Oh to be so naive, it hasn’t even started yet.
Appears they now have good target lists after a couple days of building them and are now working down the list.
48? 72? hrs. to crossing the border with the ground element.
ETA: focus is southern Gaza? That would be leadership... or escape routes. The NE is where the fighters are.

The IDF won’t go in until they are certain the Northern border is prepared. A majority of the active duty force will hit Gaza. The defense of the Lebanese border will be a reserve function (offensive tactics are harder compared to defensive)

Would be terrible if Burt Reynolds got aerated by the reserves.

You just know some dumbass in Congress is going to make a big show of solidarity with the Lesbian people.

“Netanyahu is just trying to change the law so he can’t be prosecuted for his corruption”
could also be more like
“We want to use our leftist controlled courts to wage lawfare against our right leaning political opponent and that sonofabitch is daring to fight back.”
Sound familiar?

They have active duty forces designed specifically for northern Israel/southern Lebanon/Golan Heights.
It won’t just be reserves. Some of those units are legitimately good and capable. Hez is not JV, but those particular IDF units are varsity…if their ROE allows them room to work.

This is nitpicky, but focus may be too strong of a word. Their focus is going to be all of gaza.
They are mindful of where leadership most likely is, and where escape/supply routes lead. They will certainly be taken under control.
Im curious to see what their answer is for the supply tunnels.

It’s my understanding that with the deceleration of war by the Israeli government the other day, the IDF has a free hand.
Cry “havoc!”, and let slip the dogs of war.

I must commend your knowledge of middle east foreign policy and your informative, fearless presentation of your positions on this matter.
I appreciate your comment, but honestly I’m not much of a policy wonk.
Definitely an outside cat; I don’t sleep inside by the fire.
And ~20 years affords plenty of opportunity to learn the lay of the land, even for a slow learner.
(That comment about Netanyahu was hypothetical, by the way. I know he’s been in a political battle and what it’s over, and it sounds to me like he’s not letting the leftist courts run free so they’re pissed. And since we’re seeing the same shite in the US, it seems plausible it’s the same playbook.)
Highlighting this to emphasize opinion vs. statement of fact. George “Never told a lie” Washington is the only politician who was never corrupt. Bibi is probably no exception, but the things he’s done for Israel, putting his actual arse on the line and all, give him a little benefit of the doubt with me. And they have rabid leftists like we do, so the hypothesis is a least valid if not proven.

There are 777’s and military aircraft landing in Israel from around the world packed with Israeli soldiers returning to fight for their homeland. All of these guys/gals have put in time in the Israeli military already.
It wouldn’t surprise me if the number hit 750k by next week.

I haven't been following. Has Israel retaliated yet?

I've seen a few Israeli Jews interviewed over the past couple days that claim they leaned to the left and wanted to help the Palis.
They're generally not cab drivers, they're westernized Tel Aviv Jews with degrees (possibly gay, which is ironic). The Israeli left wants control via the courts, which is why they hate Bibi's resistance to it. Anyone that has that attitude in Jerusalem is probably trying to get laid, and not much more.
My first cab driver out of TLV (of some year) thought American Jews got Trump elected . The social just schwing is strong, especially in Tel Aviv.
On top of the lefties, Jews, for centuries, have tried to find what they should have done different to avoid another Pogrom, or Kristallnacht. Crop failed in central Europe, what could we have done to avoid getting expelled or killed? (Make it rain?)
Is it any wonder we ended up with sects of Jews like the Hagenah, that blew up British shite back in the day? Just give me guns at home, in Israel, no problem. One of our tour guides (from Ft. Lauderdale) could barely count on one hand how many times she'd been stabbed on a bus by a non-Jew.
Well, look at that, now I'm a wee bit aggressive about security needing to be provided by the IDF. Imagine that.

Is it absolutely mandatory to have a new abbreviation for EVERYTHING in this WORLD ? Since WHEN is the Israeli military the IDF ????

IDF is still going to abide by ROE, or at least feign an attempt.
Their ROE is a little different than ours, though.

I get the idea of overuse of acronyms, but the Israeli military has been called the IDF for a pretty long time.

Their ROE looks a lot more like reality.
