re: What age do you enjoy your kids the most - LSUDropout on 3/31/17 at 11:22 pm
My son is 5 right now and each year has been better than the previous. I'm sure that trend will end at some point, but I think I still have a few years before it does....Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
Kodi on Raspberry Pi - LSUDropout on 2/27/17 at 12:59 pm
I already have Recalbox installed on one Raspberry PI, but now I'd like to build another dedicated to running Kodi (for a different room). I think I've narrowed it down to using either OpenELEC or OSMC, Are there any good reasons to pick one over the other?...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Where to find lantern glass panel replacements? - LSUDropout on 1/23/17 at 9:19 pm
I've taken a good piece to an ACE hardware and had them cut one to match. Only took a few minutes and was pretty inexpensive....Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Setting up a router as an access point? - LSUDropout on 1/3/17 at 3:39 pm
With the router isolated from your home network, if you can, connect a PC directly to one of the LAN ports. Look at the IP address configuration on the PC ("ipconfig /all" via command prompt). Whatever is listed as your default gateway should be the address of the router. You should be able to ac...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Setting up a router as an access point? - LSUDropout on 1/3/17 at 11:15 am
Generally when converting a wireless router into a wireless AP you should uplink via one of the LAN ports and not the WAN port. You should also disable the DHCP server which is likely enabled on the device....Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (2)
re: Has anyone here ever been "exit polled." - LSUDropout on 11/8/16 at 5:36 pm
There was someone attempting to exit poll at my polling location this morning (at least that's what I assume he was doing). He attempted to stop me, but I told him I didn't have time because I had to get to work....

re: Networking Certs (CCNA, Cisco, Networking Discussion) - LSUDropout on 10/14/16 at 7:58 am
I have my CCNP R/S and I have one exam left for my CCNP Wireless. I haven't decided yet if I want to pursue my CCIE. I've ascended fairly high in my career without and I'm not sure it'd be worth the time investment. I've been working in IT for about 12 years and strictly networking for about ...

re: Plex getting OTA DVR Functionality - LSUDropout on 9/1/16 at 9:49 am
Emby is another option to look at instead of Plex. I've been using it for years (back when it was still called Media Browser). They've had support for OTA DVR functionality for a long time. It used to be you needed a 3rd party plug-in, but they've had native support for it for a while. ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Anyone here have their CCNA? - LSUDropout on 6/15/16 at 3:46 pm
Aruba (HP?), has scored well on the Gartner Magic Quadrants, I'll give you that. I think they put out a pretty good wireless solution, but I think it's going to be a while before you see their wired solutions being widely adopted in enterprise LANs. People are hesitant to move away from products t...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Anyone here have their CCNA? - LSUDropout on 6/15/16 at 11:38 am
It could easily costs 12k
Maybe for the CCIE, but I don't think that's what he's talking about here. I think he's talking about entry level certs. As someone stated earlier, ICND1 and ICND2 are a good place to start. Depending on what you spend most of your time working on, th...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: PS Vue, LIVE Internet TV streaming | NFL Network and Redzone available - LSUDropout on 4/19/16 at 10:25 am

Disturbed - Sound of Silence - LSUDropout on 4/1/16 at 9:57 pm
Did a quick search but didn't see this song mentioned. I've been a Disturbed fan for a while and this might be my favorite song from them. Obviously a cover, but David's voice seems to have been made for this song. Anybody else enjoying this one?...

re: PS Vue, LIVE Internet TV streaming | NFL Network and Redzone available - LSUDropout on 3/23/16 at 9:16 pm
Yeah, my Samsung remote works ok, but I prefer the PS4 controller. I don't mind the controller too much, but my wife isn't as comfortable with it. If I were to get the PS4 controller, it'd really be for her. I'd be curious if you saw any major improvement using the PS4 remote over the TV remote....Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: PS Vue, LIVE Internet TV streaming | NFL Network and Redzone available - LSUDropout on 3/23/16 at 1:43 pm
Been using Vue for a week now. I had some issues last week, but it's been pretty solid the past few days. I had been using Sling, but canceled it in lieu of Vue for now. With no subscriptions, it's easy enough to move back to Sling if Vue doesn't work out. I'd be interested in know how that rem...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
