Besides making them fearful of communicating while also taking out some terrorists permanently (and/or maybe capability to reproduce future terrorists) Israel is gaining info on the hezbollah terrorist network in Lebanon including some who likely deny being hezbollah.

Confirmation from Hezbollah that it was explosive charges in the pagers that exploded.
So, backdoor confirmation of how they exploded from the Jews and now confirmation on the record from Hezbollah. The "random pagers just exploded" idea can be put to rest.
ETA: And that is from Lebanese sources, which could be independent from Hezbollah.

Yeah, it's been reported they added PETN, which is the explosive in Semtex (which is sensitive to heat) into the devices. They send a signal to the devices that make the batteries heat up which explodes the compound placed inside.
