Unfortunately this is true. Pawn shops will help you when you get the warrant. Only one tried to help when my house was burgled and it was a silver and gold specific shop. Standard pawn shops started off with we don't accept stolen items and get the warrant. Thieves suck.

I'm terribly upset that a poison trap is illegal.

I'd fix up a nice surprise.

I've been sober since I woke up at 0800, now I'm into my 3rd Modelo. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it.

Man I feel ya. Got robbed a few months ago. Never had that feeling before. I always said if someone broke into my house I'd just shoot them in the leg to wound them. But when I saw the door frame pried open and kicked in, I would have killed them had they still been in the house.

Get some cameras and an alarm system stat.

Only one of these would have helped him last night, and it isn't the two guns. Still not bad advice though.

14 downvotes? Really? I said the guy should get a gun, just calm down first before he blows money he doesn't have on pistols that would make my pee-pee move. Like a Sig P2-Twenty-Bad Mother F----ER

I love Sig. Each of you can name the brand you love.

Each incident revealed it was someone who did not have an alarm and was without a dog. Get one or the other or both. The 3rd item to consider is a handful of motion detector solar lights and a Hi intensity security light to leave on each night. Thieves hate a lighted house and will move on to somewhere else.
Your thief may have been someone who knows you and knew what you had there. Check local pawn shops by calling each one to describe your items taken.
Good luck.

Great advice.

Thieves love to hit easy/soft targets. If they perceive your dwelling to be a 'hard' target, they usually will move on to an easier target.

I have a few close friends who are in law enforcement and I have picked their minds over the years trying to get insight on how to keep my family and possessions safe.

A few things I have picked up from them:

* Take actual pictures of your possessions(not on a cell/iPhone) & store them somewhere. Get one or two of them inexpensive disposable cameras somewhere like Wal-Greens, Wal-Mart...and start photographing your valuables.

Write down the model # and serial number of your stuff(guns, TVs, computers, tools...), have it notated somewhere secure.
This will help the police in recovering your stolen stuff.

* If you can't get an actual CCTV system, you can purchase 'dummy' security cameras and security signs from somewhere like Amazon very inexpensively.

Most thieves will have NO IDEA if these are fake or not and will most likely move on.

Also, post a few 'Beware of Dogs' signs around your property. Once again, most thief's will have no idea if there are actual dogs on your property or not.

* Reinforce your doors with something like a EZ-Armor kit. These kits will make it incredible hard for a criminal to kick in your door.

*Plant sharp, sticky bushes around your windows, something like Holley bush

* The number one spot a home burglar goes to first is the bedroom. Have some cheap, fake jewelry, a little money, a few fake coins and perhaps a broken down pistol somewhat in view. This may be enough to 'placate' the thief as he is most likely very nervous and wants to make a quick hit and get out quickly.

* Know your neighbors and have a good relationship with them(if possible). They could serve as a watch-out for you and your property.

Sorry if TL

But the idea is to make your dwelling/property such a hard target that they will not even consider targeting your stuff.

" I feel violated " is a real thing . And not just in prison showers. When somebody comes into your home and takes your stuff it throws the universe out of whack. Sorry about that bro. Get an alarm cameras and a handgun and make it difficult for them to come back.

This is actually why I asked if he had serial numbers and who was working the case.

In AL we have the Alabama pawn brokers act: LINK

My girlfriend noticed the screens pushed up on all the windows. Looks like someone tried but failed to gain entry. Home invasions is something I sort of dread. I'm a stickler for locking doors and making sure our alarms are set. Also, as soon as I can afford it, I'm buying a home defense shotgun.
