There’s a big island near Germany. They were able to conduct air raids over Berlin throughout WWII. It’s call Britain. That’s how we get it over Berlin. Seriously, in 1940 they got intel that Russian ambassadors were there in 1940, and they bombed Berlin just to send a message. They certainly had the means to do so.

Ah, yes, and the bombers always get through unscathed!

The Germans had extremely limited radar implementation in 1940 or anywhere near the air defense capabilities they would have in 1945. Also, there is no guarantee of secure airbases to even fly out of Britain in 1945 if the Germans are permitted to dedicate all of their war efforts from 1941-1945 on Britain and not the Eastern Front. Kind of the whole point.

And we were the ones that completely crippled Nazi infrastructure and supply capabilities.

This happened long after the Soviets reduced the effective size of the German army to nearly a fifth of what it was when they invaded Russia.

I think the American Revolution was far more improbable and more impressive.

If we are going to talk about how the USSR is the main reason why Germany was defeated, we shouldn't talk about how impressive our revolutionary war earls considering the efforts of France and the like

Our military completely fricked up the gooks. It’s not the military’s fault that our politicians have been weak nothings since WWII.

The Mongols conquests are unrivaled. From China to Eastern Europe, everyone answered to the Khan.

Modernized warfare for the time as well.

Operation Paperclip was postwar. None of those scientists had anything to do with America's wartime technological advancements. The German scientists from Paperclip mainly contributed to American rocket technology.

The notion that American scientists and engineers were somehow inherently inferior to German ones is nonsense. That being said, the Germans were certainly elite in science and engineering and many Germans that fled Germany prewar did make serious contributions to the American nuclear program.

The British Empire. At the height, it ruled about a qtr of the land and population. English is pretty much the common language, The British commonwealth is still around with 53 nations, their mark of political system and laws have been left on every continent.

12% of Soviet citizens died in the war.

.003% of American citizens died in the war.

27 million, vs 400,000.

America's role in winning WWII IS the most important accomplishment by the U.S. in the 20th century, no doubt. Had Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan prevailed, we'd be living in a quite different world. Many of us probably wouldn't even be here.

It did help tremendously that the British had broken the German code and had the Ultra Secret, with the help of the Poles. That was huge in winning the Battle of the Atlantic over the Nazi U-boat threat.

Russia won the war just as much as the US. But what the US did was incredibly impressive.

.So bombing a train yard in France in August 1942 is why the Germans only had 50 or so combat effective divisions available to them in March? Out of the 160+ they crossed into Eastern Poland with?

Interesting.

Facts are facts. And if we really want to be intellectually honest with ourselves, the war in the East had been won by the Soviets by the time the western Allies landed in Normandy. On 06/22/44, the Soviets launched Operation Bagration, which destroyed German Army Group Center.

I wonder how poorly the modern world would take not being able to buy new fridges and cars and only so much cheese per week because everything is being sent to the front, and factories are being retooled to get more supplies for the front

Which would not have even began without millions of tons of american equipment going 24/7. The soviets would have never gotten out of Moscow without American help.
