Pro Self Checkout Tip:

Grab the organic bananas and just use the 4011 code. That way you save on the organic prices.

banana
speaking of bananas, if you want to read about the apocalyptic effect of monocrop agriculture so that we can have bananas on demand, year round, go down the rabbit hole of the banana fungus that has worldwide banana crop production on a 10 year countdown to extinction.

I’ll bite, what’s the banana trick? I must be out the loop..

I don’t otherwise speak poor, but based on context, I’m assuming that because bananas are very cheap by weight, people ring up more expensive (by weight) produce items and code them as bananas to get it for cheaper.

Not saying there isn't an issue, but the media has been spewing this BS for a long time

The only banana trick I'm aware of is performed onstage at a club in Amsterdam.

But a known theft method is ringing up something expensive as bananas.

Sounds like a bunch of monkey business

Sounds to me like the "Main Monkey Business".

Basically you scan a banana, throw it off to the side and then put your case of beer on the scale. The sensors can only tell that you scanned an item and then moved it to the bagging area.

If you do the banana trick correctly, you can get a case of beer (or other expensive item) for only a few dollars.

Don't know if it helps, OP, but the last two times I've bought bananas at Walmart, they have done the same thing.

And, yes, I'm well-aware that I'm trashy, redneck, and an OT poor.

Walmart is moving to only allowing self checkout for Walmart+ members. You will soon have to pay to use it

Won't affect or bother me whatever they do. I don't shop at WallyWorld and wouldn't swap dollar bills with them.

The fact that people do this is an indictment of civilization.

Walmart is paying out a shitload right now as part of a class action where their scales over charged people.

You’re overthinking this. Walmart just has cheap-arse equipment that malfunctions a lot. They skimp out anywhere they can. Also the reason they run skeleton crews and call it “overstaffed”.
