Any personal stories that made you think there's something to it?

Of course it's not real. What kind of Third World religion would have the dead rise from the grave and believe it?

I had a neighbor across the street in the bywater in 2005, he was a practicing voodoo type of guy.

He and his same street next door neighbor hot into a public disagreement. He did a spell and their house burned down the same week.

I saw Bill Pullman go through some bad shite in Haiti in The Serpent and the Rainbow. He later went on to become president of the US during the first big alien war on Independence day.

If you have the time, read High Sheriff of the Low Country,
quote:

High Sheriff of the Low Country,

High Sheriff of the Lowcountry, Ed McTeer, was sheriff for 37 years from 1924 until 1963. Known for years as the “Boy Sheriff,” McTeer became Sheriff at 23 when he replaced his father, James E. McTeer, who died after winning reelection in 1924. He battled with rum-runners during Prohition, nude beaches on Cat Island in the 1930’s and the infamous Dr. Buzzard, the Lowcountry witch doctor with whom McTeer frequently engaged in and out of the courtroom. At a time when the county was mostly rural and thinly populated, he managed to gain a respect from everyone, black and white, that allowed him to rarely carry a gun. McTeer became known as the White Witch Doctor of the Lowcountry, practicing white magic.

Dr Buzzard appeared on several Letterman shows. LINK

Yes it's real. It's just a religion with close ties to Catholicism.

Now Hoodoo is what y'all are mistaking voodoo for. Hoodoo is the black magic.

Did the spell involved candles and a few gallons of gas?

I knew voodoo wasn't real, but before 2006 I swore someone put a curse on the Superdome.

There were too many games the Saints somehow found a way to lose, that they shouldn't have.
