nowadays gay Flippy shite.....none of the guys look like they could whoop anyone's arse

I understand, and it's a legit criticism. I think Flippy is more prevalent in AEW than WWE.
WWE, has some real legit arse kickers.

Lesnar, Bobby lashley both have world class MMA backgrounds.
Randy Orton looks legit, despite no MMA background.
Roman Reigns has a believable look(former ga tech d lineman).
WWE is really getting better now. With CM punk returning etc.

If you like wrestling and are a male, you are not 100% straight on the Kinsey scale of sexuality.

The SEC and NFL are just as rigged as wrestling. At least wrestling admits what they are.

Probably not. But there is likely something mentally wrong with you if you are worried about what other grown adults spend their time watching on tv.

I used to love it, but grew out of it by the time I was 12. I'm going to see Iron Claw though. The Von Erichs were part of every Gen-X boy's childhood if you were in DFW.

I occasionally enjoy watching professional wrestling. I have not watched professional wresting. It might be interesting to see people snatching stuff away from other people.

Only if you watch the nfl that is scripted and classified as entertainment. The nfl did argue in court that it should be classified as entertainment just like the WWE. The court agreed and ruled in its favor. Nfl viewers are just like wrestling fans used to be. They think it's actually real. Lol at least wrestling fans know wrestling is scripted. Nfl fans not so much as they think it's real. So who are the real fools?

It’s a live performance.

Do you think Hamilton or Phantom of the Opera are real?

Too muchbif their sense of self is sourced from a fictional creation often to the detriments of other aspects of their lives.

It is no different than tying untold amounts of time and money up in the support of a chosen sports team that has literally no impact on ones life whatsoever. Or getting on message boards to bitch about it, calling into radio shows, watching hours of analysis on tv.

It is all relative what a person chooses to do with their time when it comes to entertainment. Some people think that level of sports fandom is stupid.

I'm sorry, I just don't get it... they certainly do though

You don’t get it, and that’s okay also. Not everyone has to “get” everything. The same folks saying pro wrestling is silly are the same ones who watch every single Marvel movie. Pro wrestling is basically a weekly marvel movie. A classic good vs evil show that features actual athletes.

And yes, these are real athletes. The vast majority being former collegiate or pro prospects and a few even competed in Olympic Games. It’s scripted, or choreographed, but it’s “real” in that most of the shite hurts and sometimes horrible injuries occur.

I was a huge fan when I was a child. I follow very casually today and mostly watch the PPVs on Peacock if nothing else is going on. But our grandfather’s grandfathers enjoyed pro wrestling. It’s not a new phenomenon. It’s literally been around for multiple generations.

And for all the “hurdur rednecks like it”, it’s popular all across the USA and in Japan, Mexico, India, and Canada.

Like I said, you don’t have to understand why others like it. But it’s no different than consuming any other brand of fiction and enjoying it as well. This one just gives you the “thrill” of live television.
