Enjoy the horrible Punch at the reception.

Totally depends on the sect and the minister.

I’ve been to some like you describe, and others that were almost more Catholic than Catholics.

I don't remember hearing any of those "love and OBEY" parts lately.

No stand up fricking on the honeymoon. Too much like dancing.

Congrats on the hour long wedding, I guess?

Best I can remember, mine and my wife’s wedding was about 22 minutes long, and without checking, I think we are just as married as our fellow Jews and Catholics

I’m not Methodist. But in my experience they have the fastest weddings. Catholics have mass and Baptist turn the ceremony into a Bobby Bowden stump speech

I'm Protestant but we got married in Vegas. I don't think it lasted ten minutes. Been together roughly 20 years

First marriage did the whole nine yards at 23 years old, I don’t even recall what was spent, something north of $15K. Second time around, did Vegas, spent $1200 on everything

It’s kinda the point. You make your wedding what you want vs some priest you don’t know giving you a script when the only part of the Catholic faith you listen to is when to eat fish.

I had a cousin who got married and the ceremony lasted 21 minutes. I told his brother that he’s got to beat that. He said no problem.

Three years later the ceremony was done in 16 minutes. It was a brief interruption in the party.

Say what you want about Protestant weddings, but there’s something to be said for getting that part of the process done quick.

It wasn't spur of the moment. We went to Vegas to get married because we thought the wedding sounded like a hassle once we started getting into the planning.

I think our actual wedding cost a couple hundred dollars but I'm sure we spent way more than $1200 on the trip.

The only true Protestants are Lutheran, Anglican, Reformed, and Presbyterian.

You know how I know?
Because there’s structure in everything they do.

Baptists are Congregationalists. Hence, no structure.

In general, it is a high church vs low church issue. High church places emphasis on ceremony, vestments, and sacraments and low church doesn't. All the weddings I have been to in low church formats still have a basic adherence to ceremony in terms of structure but much less so with the actual language.

Well, to put it in the proper context, the widow next door had been married seven times before. And every one was a Henry.

Lutheran weddings follow a structure but it depends on what the couple wants as to how long it lasts. The basics only take about 15 minutes. It depends on how long the Pastor speaks, whether there are any extra readings, special music, etc.

30 minute ceremony, 30 minute reception. You can be back on the golf course by 4.

This is absolutely, without question, incorrect.
