I've owned the 1993, '95, '99, and 2010 4Runner. Best vehicle ever to have been mass produced.

It's amazing how well built Toyotas were back in the day. They just run on and run on forever.

Japs know what they're doing.

My Tacoma ran for ever. Had 350k when I finally got rid of it, and it still ran.

I would take any year Suburban or Tahoe over a late 90's Toyota, so I'm going to go with no.

was a really good looking truck when new, and it has aged well along with the Tacoma line.

bought my wife a brand new Limited in 99. Those were the roughest riding bastids Ive ever ridden in. It rode so bad, we sold it with 14k miles on it. Shes driven a Camry every since, normally gets a new one every 2 years, tried to talk her into getting another 4Runner last year, she said hell no.

I passed on the opportunity to buy my dad's 96 4runner, 04 tacoma, and 2010 tacoma.

I've owned a lot of vehicles, but not buying any of these rank among my worst decisions.

Also, selling my 2004 tundra is up there with worst decision.

I could still be driving any of those vehicles.

My bride sometimes complains that her Limited '13 rides rough. We just went on vacation in August and rented a Limited Explorer for 2 weeks. We drove up the coast of Maine so were in it for hours at a time. It had more bells and whistles, but that piece of shite rode like a derailed train compared to her 4Runner and the seats were like plywood. Plus woke up one morning to a dead battery in it. She hated it.

She hasn't complained about hers since being home.

My 97 may be the best car I ever own. Drive way too much for work now to have a 4Runner but hoping my next vehicle will be one for sure.

Not just longevity, but design. The land cruisers and even the 1st generation sequoias had the same type of design (more boxy than bubbly). The new land cruisers look more like a highlander than a rugged SUV.

New Land Cruisers have an identity crisis. They only come as one model in the US - expensive luxury model with all options. But if you're looking for a luxury SUV you might as well go with the Lexus version which is pretty much the same price. If Toyota ever got smart and gave us a Land Cruiser geared towards recreational use (like the multiple LC 200 models sold in Australia) rather than hauling brats to soccer practice then they would have a major hit in the south and mountain west.

Don't know if they still do, but what made the Jap cars so great back then was they were built with cast iron blocks.

My first car was a 1985 Honda Prelude that I bought in 1991 with 175k on it. I put another 200k on it and it was still going strong when an a-hole ran a stop sign and t-boned me and totaled it.

Took it to the local Honda dealership when I bought it and was told that with regular oil changes and changing the timing chain every 150-175k that it would run forever and it probably would have. Damn thing got awesome gas mileage too. I could drive from my parents' house to Auburn, which was normally about a 4 hour drive and not even use a 1/4 of a tank of gas. This was with me making the drive in about 2.5 hours. Once I got that car on the highway it very rarely saw under 100mph.

Every Haitian in south Florida drives a Toyota. It's the damndest thing I've ever seen. Toyota cornered the frick out of that market.

The Toyota Corolla is pretty much the national car of Afghanistan.

Eh they can be as the parts for older ones are harder to find. I have a 97 LC with 230K miles. It has never left me stranded except once when it turned out a battery terminal was loose. I can't get rid of her.

Only pic I can readily find stuck in gumbo mud.

I drove a 95 for 8 years in high school and college. It had 235,000 on it when it finally crapped out. Think we still got $1200 out of it for parts. Loved that thing!
