Texas Panhandle in the summer is the worst no contest.
Fort Worth through Wichita Falls to Amarillo is mind-numbing.

Dallas to Amarillo or Amarillo to Raton Pass are both pretty desolate

10 across is the bad part. Brutal on a holiday weekend. He took a better route.

85 between Mobile and Montgomery sucks arse and has a lot of police shooting radar. Seems there is always some spot of construction where the speed limit drops excessively low and nothing but piney woods to see.
My experience is this 3 hour stretch rates right up there with the panhandle of Florida.

If you want to die from a million depressing yawns, Leave FT. Worth for El Paso. You will experience the trip to the lower reaches of hell, with no hope of return, complete with fiery backgrounds as they burn the gas off wells in the distance.

Going on I-10 west from San Antonio to El Paso is far worse. As is Fort Worth to El Paso.

Gotta be better then i10 from Winnie to Beaumont, or i10 from BR bridge to Denham springs

My takeaway from this thread: most of this country sucks arse for driving unless you’re by a coast.

The Mississippi interstate and highway system is surprisingly pretty well kept. Not sure where you got lost. I'm not a fan of this state but that's actually one of the bright spots.
Eta: if you're talking about poverty then that's different. Mississippi is the Brazil of the US. Poor next to wealth and very little in between. There are some disgusting people here.

The drive from Gulf Shores to East Texas is much worse…bc you end up in East Texas.

That's barely an inconvenience compared to Shreveport to Midland Tx.

Pensacola to Tallahassee is pretty boring

Why would you ever go from Shreveport through the Mississippi delta and rural Alabama. Take 49 down to 190, then 10 all the way across
Baton Rouge is the Achilles’ heel of that route. I use it 9/10 times over the MS route, but I always get a sense of dread as I approach BR.

you ever been somewhere like pueblo colorado? it makes middle alabama look like the french riviera
Are you fricking kidding me? No honest person would choose to drive through middle Alabama over Pueblo, unless you are a retard. The drive up I-25 from Raton to Denver is great. Lots of scenery.

I used to think I-10 between San Antonio and Tucson was bad and the road from Vegas to Reno was worse.
Now I enjoy those wide open deserts, give a man time to think about the meaning of life while cruising along at 90 mph.
