I like this drive. The scenery changes once you get past Dalhart.

Closer you get to Raton Pass, the better it gets, but even elevation is misleading, as mountains on the map are really bumps until you get to the Pass.

Can’t figure out how you’re going but The drive is fine other than Jackson. Hattiesburg to Mobile is great now that the bypass is open.

I’ve seen antelope. They aren’t that impressive and don’t make up for depressing dead north Texas town after depressing north Texas town.

When Dalhart is the highlight of the drive, it’s pretty bleak

Drove back from Panama City yesterday. I know bad move because of the beginning of Memorial weekend, but figured everybody was heading East, not West. Wrong! Florida wins best part of I-10 with Alabama/Mississippi about second with La., last. I bet Buccees in Alabama made 100,000.00 yesterday. Unbelievable. Didn't want to stop but ate Mexican at Guadalahara's Thursday night, bad move, and it hit me around that intersection. Again, unbelievable. Traffic was backed up miles coming from the West to get in there. Took almost an hour to park and use the facilities and get back on the road. And Mobile is about like B.R. as far as getting though there in less than a half hour or more. And the poor souls heading East on I-10, I feel for you. Took 10 hours to get home and 2 hours were from stalled traffic to the snarl of the beaver. If I go again, it will be thru central La., Ms., and Ala., then down to the Emerald coast. The U.S. has outgrown our interstates.

And just how much $$ have the state and local politicians of Jackson Miss stolen from the taxpayers due to 'road work' over the last 40 yrs?
One will note that the Mississippi DOT has its own mowers and employees maintain (i.e. cut the grass) their highways’ right of ways.

That’s a moronic waste of money in 2024.

Even the Banana Republic of Louisiana privately contracts maintenance of ROWs out for bid.

"the" shittiest? probably not, but it's up there for sure....

to me that stretch of I-10, from E. Beaumont to W. Lafayette, absolutely sucks.... shitty scenery, littered roads... yeah, just not a lot to like

I have a house in Alabama & southern Colorado & I really don't know where you're getting this from. There is literally nothing in Middle Alabama. It might as well be the Amazon jungle.

That drive through the Florida interior on your way to Disney frick has got to be one of the very worst.

I-4 is a soul thief. It is called an interstate and only goes E-W through Florida (HI has something similar). She is a lying and trashy version of a road. I will drive through the interior back roads to Orlando, just to avoid I-4.

Lol.. that is one way of putting it, i guess.. another, more accurate way to say it- is that there are TOO MANY DAMN PEOPLE……. Specifically, too many trashy fricking people.. We need population control, and we need it like yesterday .

Try driving through east Oklahoma. Towns with <1000 population but somehow a dozen cbd stores, 6 dollar generals, and more burned out fentanyl dens than businesses that aren't gas stations
