This summer has been more brutal.

Granted we haven’t had any crazy highs like 120(that doesn’t happen every summer btw). But we have beaten daily record highs a few times(with like highs of 113-114).

Usually monsoon season in the summer helps cool things off just a little bit, if only for a few hours at a time. But this year we have barely gotten any rain during our monsoon season.

But it’s not humid here so that makes a huge difference. I mean yeah....if you are outside in the blazing sun at noon for more than a few minutes with no shade or no pool to cool off....it’s gonna be fricking hot.

That’s why you plan around it.

San Diego is better in my opinion

I would love to live in San Diego. It’s great.

But also very expensive.

Living where I live affords me a much lower cost of living and being close enough to drive to San Diego to visit.

I've been SW of Phoenix in June/July and the sun damn near hurts your skin. Imagine being in a place where the water running out of your kitchen faucet isn't cold, or even cool for that matter.

Maybe stay in a better place?

I’ve never had this issue during the summer. Even living in apartments.

I've been a couple of times, and gotta say it's a rather dull, boring town. Not that that is a bad thing, but I didn't leave all that impressed with it. Both of my visits were rather short though.

Really nice, easily navigable airport though, for whatever that is worth.

I swear this isn't just a Tucson/Phoenix rivalry post.

Phoenix does very little for me. It's big and bland. There are a lot of other cities in Arizona with a more unique history and experience.

Flagstaff and Tucson have better outdoors options and a more unique culture. Sedona, Prescott and Bisbee are cool small towns. Phoenix is an endless suburb.

I have plenty of friends there who like it, but it just doesn't do it for me.

Arizona has some of the worst air quality in the country.

Tucson the city sucks though.

Only thing cool about Tucson is Mt Lemmon.

Phoenix to me is sort of like a bigger version of one of the booming Florida inland areas.

Palm trees and sand and growth and swimming pools. But no ocean, little history/culture and it's filled with transplants and old people. I think Orlando is the worst city in America for the same reasons.

Now I do think Nurse does outdoor stuff which is a fair reason to base yourself there.

I really enjoy the area but it’s so ridiculous hot in the summer I don’t think I could live there. 110 and no humidity is still like walking in an oven.

Will be there next week, I think.

Cost of living looks pretty low, by the way.

I’m sure some of the resorts there are nice though.

Tucson is much closer to Kartchner Caverns though which is really cool

I lived in AZ for a while and this pretty much sums it up for me, other than the fact that I'm not a fan of Tucson either. I love most of AZ though.
