I thought Phoenix was dirty, as in litter dirty.
Scottsdale was nice. But every local I talked to said the summers are hellish. It would rank on my "places to retire" list tho.

Very much so. It's like a mini Vegas without the casinos.

If you like living in the desert. It would probably be most folks #1 choice.

Flagstaff>>>>>>>>>Phoenix
Agree
On paper PHX is solid
In reality it depresses me some

It’d be 45 minutes on a plane from there to Vegas
And less than $50 on some of the discount airlines.
The drive is less than 5 hours. Kinda a boring drive. Driving through Joshua Tree forest is kinda cool if you have never seen them up close.

There's just something about it that really turns me off.
It's the Guy Fieri of AZ cities.

I always drive there mainly because we usually stay with friends when we go there and aren’t staying on the Strip.

Reminded me more of a beach town without a beach than Vegas.

Very easy to find safe areas here.
Scottsdale is very safe and not full of meth labs and Mexican gangs.

My ideal place wouldn't get that hot. I'd prefer to live somewhere that rarely got over 85.

San Diego is better in my opinion.

Never saw a meth lab until I moved to LA and never saw a Mexican gang on a corner despite growing up in Phoenix proper.
Actually being able to send your kids to the neighborhood public school to get a good education is nice too.

If you want to live amongst a bunch of people from Ohio, Michigan and California...yeah. Go for it.
