I think where I live is the best metro area

Phoenix has a lot of strip malls back to back. It'll be a cold day in Phoenix/hell when I don't rank Tucson over Phoenix.
This x1000. Phoenix is generic af, Scottsdale is plastic af.
Tucson has way more character and keeps it real.
Revenge of the Nerds and Can't Buy Me Love made the right choice.

I've heard nothing but great things about Scottsdale. Definitely high on my list of places to visit.

From what I’ve seen its low compared to most cities (Dallas, Houston, even Nola). We looked at some houses on Zillow and you can find a 1600-2000 sqft house in Scottsdale for $320-$350.
I mean the same thing will cost you like $225-250 in Gonzales but still not bad for a metro area

Besides Mt Lemmon....tell me what I can do in Tucson that I cannot do in PHX metro or a short drive away from?

I just didn’t care for it. I’m more a city girl.
Tucson made me feel like I was in Baton Rouge....in the desert.
I like the outdoors, and I'd rank Tucson over Phoenix for the ability to live close to a ton of outdoors stuff.
Being 5 minutes from a trail into a mountain canyon at pretty much all times is fun for me. Tucson is built to offer a lot of that because everywhere is basically integrated into the desert. You almost never get further than 10 min from an outdoors destination.
I'm not mad or anything, though, different strokes for different folks. Personally, there's a reason I'm in Tucson, though.

If you’re above 24 and still going to ASU to party you need to re-evaluate your life

When my future kids go there in 25 years, I’ll be partying like the summer of 69 for parents weekend

Phoenix is where you live if you’d like to live in California but just can’t afford it

I went for the final four and wasn’t impressed

I've honestly never really had the desire to go. My unfounded opinion is that it has nice offerings, but, like Dallas, it is cookie-cutter and overly developed and manufactured. The lack of four seasons, heat, and just constant sunny days would wear on me.

Phoenix is desert Houston, but cleaner and nicer.
Of the big non nice beach suburban sprawl cities (Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Orlando, Phoenix, Charlotte, San Antonio, Las Vegas, etc) it’s probably the best one to live in.
However, I’d still put several metros above it.

No. San Diego.
If you can afford it (or join the Navy).

I dream about relocating out there. I interviewed for a few jobs out that way after law school, but no bites.
I actually was offered a position in Arizona that I often regret turning down.
