If you aren't an idiot who sticks to ambassador to get to south lafayette, yeah

No love for Natchitoches? I always enjoyed it there.
I love visiting Natchitoches. That said, I stick to the area immediately around downtown. When you leave downtown or university areas it becomes more typical small town Louisiana (which is not on par with "nice")

But I only add 5-10 minutes of time versus absolutely shite zoning, flooding, and overbuilding.
I'll still take scott.
Also pinhook and the ambassador extention blow chunks just as much as scott into south lafayette. Same with Evangeline thrw.

Yeah I love Uncle T’s but rarely go because it’s so far away

I seriously doubt the no neck tattoo claim.

Mandeville is definitely the nicest community in LA by a landslide. It’s close to nola, has good outdoors nearby. Easy access for beach trips. Only drawback is that it’s vulnerable for hurricanes. The closest thing in my personal experience would be Lafayette or Ruston.
Lafayette because for a city of it’s size it’s got lower crime. It’s mostly clean and has decent selections for things to do. Plus you can go to any LSU event and be home that night.
Ruston is more quiet. Has nicer terrain. Clean small town. Only drawback is that it’s located in North LA far from almost everything.

Lafayette and surrounding suburbs is the nicest in "South la"
North shore is nicest overall and Mandeville is bad arse
Ruston is nicest uo north

I want all of this too, but I also really enjoy walking around my neighborhood and the mature trees around here. Not to mention being 5 minutes from downtown. I also don't really like the aesthetics of neighborhoods that have zero trees, and where all of the homes look the same.
I get why people would want to live in suburbs of cities that are ghetto, dangerous, or whatever, but that's not Lafayette
I 100% agree with you. Just saying most can't afford to live in those types of areas and have the really nice house and bigger yard.
I wasn't trying to say Youngsville is nicer than say river ranch area, but it is very nice and overall is prolly nicer than Lafayette as. Whole. I consider Lafayette to be a hidden gym and the best area besides maybe the north shore in LA.

wonder what is the main industry or occupation(s) for the folks in these communities? Healthcare? O&G? Not sure what everybody does for there to be such a relatively decent median household income....anybody have any insight?
The professions in my neighborhood are engineers, doctors, lawyers, insruance salesman, bankers, and small business owners.

I can vouch that Westbound HWY 22 can back up from the Tchefuncte to the Causeway Approach.
Can also vouch that I-12 Westbound can back up from Hwy 21 all the way back to 190 and down 190 to Judge Tanner.
That shite is worse than Baton Rouge b/c there is NO alternative. When you leave Metairie, you pick the Causeway or I-55. Then you're committed.

It all sucks now, has gone downhill ever since Katrina.
95% of the people living here now just don't know any better because they came from the worst city in one of the shittiest states.
Yall need to be like the damn hipsters and go take your old neighborhoods back instead of being locust and recreating the shithole you left.

I’d like to introduce you to Iowa, LA. We have such fine local establishments such as a La Rumba, we have a McDonalds and a Burger King, and your choice of gas stations (Pilot, Shell or Loves).
We also make it easy to navigate. There are two streets that cross each other.
Lots of opportunity for “aggressive expansion”.

I’ll take Covington over Mandeville any day. Also, I gotta give a shout out to Southern Trace in of all places Shreveport. Really fine subdivision.

There it is, there is no culture. WHO GIVES A frick???!!! I want to live around Good upper to wealthy people who have nice shite. I want nice stores around me and nice facilities and activities for my kids to go to. I want to live in a good school district and have access to a really good private schools. I want to be close to work and nice restruants.
Uh…. Kinda angry for no reason
I don’t know Covington too well but it never struck me as a place with no culture. Like, not a shallow insta community. There are generational families in that town. It always struck me as cool, southern town that has an interesting history while embracing today and the future ie not a hick town. I could see myself living there someday but would really miss being on the water.
Mandeville is certainly not an instatown. There are some old families there and it has tons of history. I really like Mandeville and the fact that thousands of people move there annually tells you something.
It’s like yogi Berra said tho… no one goes there… it’s too crowded

Truth. Mandeville is a shithole filled with people that never lived anywhere nice before they moved there. It’s a weird mix of 70’s strip malls and new architecture that just doesn’t work. I can’t believe people are still enamored by Beau Chien (intentional misspelling for those unfamiliar with French).
Getting around in town is an absolute nightmare at the best of times. Madisonville ftw.

Hayden has to park his F250 in the driveway because it won’t fit IN the garage:
A. Because the cookie cutter garage is too small
B. The garage is used as storage because the cookie cutter house is small and inadequate storage space inside the house.
C. Karen leaves her SUV unlocked which thieves love.

Lived in Metairie and NO. Now live in Mandeville. Absolute delight. That said, I do avoid 12 west of Hwy 59 and have no real reason to drive on 22 so I guess that makes a difference.
Uptown/Carrollton at rush hour during schoolyear is pure misery. Vets, Clearview, South Causeway, Williams, and I10 between Loyola and Causeway are far worse than anything I've ever experienced in Mandeville.
BR traffic makes Mandeville traffic seem like small town America.
