The average household income in Mandeville is $114,268 with a poverty rate of 10.33%. The median rental costs in recent years comes to $1,133 per month, and the median house value is $288,900. The median age in Mandeville is 43.7 years, 40 years for males, and 45.5 years for females.

This is how you price out the poors and single moms on welfare that plague Slidell, Covington, and everywhere else in Louisiana

quote:

According to the most recent ACS, the racial composition of Mandeville was: White: 93.72% Black or African American: 2.82% Asian: 2.82% Two or more races: 0.39% Other race: 0.25% Native American: 0.00% Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander: 0.00%

This is the demographic information for the city of Mandeville

quote:

Mandeville violent crime is 13.4. (The US average is 22.7) Mandeville property crime is 32.7. (The US average is 35.4)

On an unrelated note, this is the crime rate for the city of Mandeville

This is the scenic Mandeville Lakefront. A place where you will find no Pitbulls or neck tattoos

If there’s one flaw with Mandeville, it’s that it was basically built on one main road and has much more traffic than a town of 12,000 people should. Other than that it’s a clean, wealthy, crime-free paradise in an otherwise poor and shitty state.

Pretty much. Youngsville isn't far behind though imo.

I don't understand why someone would live in Youngsville versus a nice neighborhood in Lafayette, unless you can't afford private school

Mandeville pales in comparison to St. George.

Youngsville has the edge because Mandeville is full of New Orleans refugees.

I’d say so. Covington is a close second. These days, pretty much all of west St. Tammany blends together anyway. I’d also say Old Covington > Old Mandeville. Also, Tchefuncta CC > Beau Chene, ain’t even close.

All in all, they’re both wonderful places along with Madisonville and Abita.

False. The beach clientele on Saturday looked like Blue Bayou.

No it isn’t. The majority of them went to Slidell and the Mississippi Gulf Coast

Because even then you are close to bad areas and have to deal with it.

Go out to Youngsville and you are still pretty damn close to stm and don't have to deal with any of that.

That's like asking why someone would live in Mandeville when you could live in old Met.

Or why live in Prairieville when you could live in a nice neighborhood in BR.

That may be true, I only visit Youngsville and note how super nice everything is. Not much traffic on the weekends.

No
Traffic bad
Too much new orleans flight out after Katrina turned it from a sleepy town to more headaches

Lafayette public schools aren't close to as bad as EBR.

Yeah I don’t see the draw to youngsville either, unless of course you grew up in new Iberia
