I have relatives in Louisiana. Few people leave Louisiana because they have family keeping them there from moving, which is basically 98% of the state population. Outside of the tiny amount of people from the east coast that move to NOLA due to Tulane, there's no transplant population and almost everyone are 4th and 5th generation citizens living there

Louisiana is home. It used to be awesome and still would be if cultcha wasn’t spreading so fast. You used to be able to just move away from it. But it’s so widespread now you can’t really get away from it and still have a reasonable commute to a decent job. I never thought I’d leave this state and I really don’t want to. But it’s hard to fathom not being pushed out over the next decade or two. If vasectomies and hysterectomies were a prerequisite for food stamps, Louisiana would be a bad arse place to live.

Louisiana will always have a special place in my heart and I only spent a sliver of my life there, but this statement is slightly contradictory. If the people are just better, you probably wouldn’t have a shitty government and high crime rates in major cities.

You should just be happy your inner circle is good folks and you associate with quality individuals.

Outside of my friends, I don’t like a lot of the folks in Louisiana. Like you said, the shitty politicians and criminals for starters.

I don’t miss it at all.

I love it too...I often drive across the spillway and think to myself how grateful I am to have been born in this wonderful place full of the nicest, most fun loving humans on Earth. I left twice, for post -grad education and work and came back both times. However, I am still ready to leave for good if the crime, trash and giveaways of my tax dollars to lazy humans doesn't stop...
This is an incredible, beautiful place full of stupid takers electing stupid politicians who grift us dry..

It's only weird if you've been to other states and still love Louisiana.

Know what you mean. I moved to Austin six months ago and am missing the camaderie of Louisiana. Most people in Austin aren't from Austin so it feels disconnected and kind of lonely. It especially shows during football season as you see a dozen different jerseys any given weekend. Compare that to New Orleans on a Sunday or BR during a LSU game.

I love Johnnys Pizza. It’s far from the best I’ve ever had, but it’s “our” pizza. It’s what I grew up eating, and I have many fond memories associated with it.

Nope…I grew up in Louisiana. Spent my career moving around the country to most of the cities that are “better” than anything Louisiana has to offer. After all of these years, I’ve never stopped missing home.

Now, as I approach the end of my career, I have about made the decision to move back to Louisiana after retirement. I am excited.

That’s a great thing to meet and mingle with people from different backgrounds and universities.

Love the Saints and LSU but that’s pretty much all you see in LA.
