Maybe it’s a mid-life thing, but is 35 old enough for a mid-life crisis?

I had one around 40. Didn’t realize it but had nothing to do with decline in physical health, wanting a nice car, or anything fancy. Mostly depression type issues but got over that bump in the road. You may have some and not realize it yet, I sure as hell didn’t when I was going through it.

Or it may be as simple as a bucket list, or like you said, seeing the world and serving. Nothing wrong with that, hell it’s a good thing. Make sure your wife is ok with it though

I would wait until the 2nd Tuesday in Nov before deciding or else you might get sent to Iran or Israel.

I feel like that's about the right age to start wondering what the hell you're doing with life and how to make it more meaningful.

It's not a bad thought or question to ask yourself. Just be realistic about it.

Best of luck either way.

My cousin joined the Army at 35 during the housing crisis when he lost his contractor job. Had worked home construction his whole life and couldn't find any work so he joined sorta out of desperation. He's still in 15 years later and loves it. Several deployments and all sorts of school, trainings, etc. Something about military life just clicks with him. But he was always an athletic, in shape guy who was an early riser and got things done so it was an easier transition for him than it would be for most.

I definitely had a desire to buy a Corvette and grow a mullet at 40. It's in our DNA

Look into the coast guard first before signing the navy papers. They take up to 42 and need people.

At your age, Air Force would be a much better option.

Depends…officer or enlisted?

If enlisted, I’d say frick no. You’re going to be around a bunch of dumbass 18 year olds all day.

Truthfully, I’d caution against joining the military at that age simply for the fact that most 35 year olds don’t want to, and won’t, put up with the bullshite that comes with military life especially as a junior enlisted or officer. And trust me, there’s a fricking LOT of bullshite to put up with especially in today’s military.

Be a SEAL or Seabee or you’ll be around a bunch of squirrels. Also, Navy NCOs are jerks.

nope, especially if you are a trans man dressed up as a women, those go immediately to officer school because they are better than everyone else based on their mental condition.

seriously though, yes, they will take anyone stupid enough to enlist right now. if you hurry there is a good change biden will get you killed by starting a war just before the election hoping that saves him.
