Our country has a happiness problem and I think a large part of that is our ridiculous work expectations.
But if I work just a bit more I'll finally catch my break and get ahead in life. It's what the American Dream has promised me. Never mind that I work for corporate overlords that use that extra profit I worked long hours to earn to pay off politicians to keep the lie of the American Dream alive for votes in the next election cycle.

But the idea that they're getting screwed is silly.
Yep. In any decent sized metro area, teachers are starting out at around $48,000-55,000. Add in time off, benefits, and the ability to work part time in the summer doing tutoring and coaching, and you have a pretty decent middle class income / life.

Look, I'm all for companies making their own rules.
I just wish our populous would turn down job offers for jobs that require 50+ hours of work a week so companies would be forced to change.
But I, like you, choose to do that to get ahead because that's really the only way.

I sell wine and spirits. When everyone else is off work and drinking, my industry is in its busiest times.

Problem is that America isn't going to suddenly start taking joy in their families and the simple things just because they're working fewer hours.
We'll just complain that some people keep working more and acquire more stuff that we covet. And we'll demand that the government provide us some manner to acquire said stuff that doesn't require working more than 32 hours.

Perhaps you should get your friends to teach you English.
ETA: I have a slew of family from my wife's side that are teachers at various levels. Some good, some shitty. None only work during school hours. Literally none.

Relegating yourself to weak insults, further proof you have zero to back up your stupid opinion.

She has to be at work for 6:45 and we live 40 miles from our jobs?
Who has time to sneak around?

I guess everyone in here is a salaried employee.
Does anyone in favor of reducing the workweek think that it will created a wider gap, more resentment even, from hourly employees?

My apologies, my phone has crappy autocorrect. But, you should really take a minute to do some research before spewing some idiotic nonsense in attempt to not look like an imbecile. You may have a to extensive post history of of dumb and unsubstantiated takes for any hope of reconciliation of reputation at this point though.

Are you getting offended that you're getting called out for being uneducated? It would do you good to try to expand your limited knowledge. How you feel and what is true aren't the same thing buddy. Maybe you will understand that one day.

Listen up, you sinning booze distributor.
Maybe in an office setting, 80% are salaried employees that could get away with a 32 hour work week. But then there's the 20% who are hourly employees, maybe the secretary, receptionist, office manager, whatever. How would they interpret the others skating through at 32 hours and them doing 40 hours?

You can't form an educated or factually correct sentence, though.
