It's pretty funny that dumb oilfield workers use this picture considering Don Draper probably worked 30 hours in a week, half of those being sober.
We may be dumb but making 100k a year aint too bad. Of course some of us dumb oilfield workers didnt have to go 60k in debt to make 100k a year.

Neither did I. It's called scholarships.

You are just dependent on an extremely volatile commodity or you'll be making $9/hr at Lowe's after you got laid off.

Lol at anyone who thinks working 60-80+ hours a week for ~100k is a good deal.
My wife works 40-45 hours a week and makes north of 100k in O and G. And her job is much safer during downturns than field workers / operators.
Congrats on not going to college dumbass.

Go to countries in Europe and people are usually amazed at how many hours the average American puts in at the office.
Shocking that America is the most prosperous country when compared to Europe. Wonder why, right?

You'd rather be prosperous than happy?
Btw american "prosperity" is so heavily tilted to an almost unbelievably small percentage of the population.
I'm not some communist saying that all profits should return to the employees or anything, but the current balance is a completely shite deal.

Most euros and the rest of the world actually "work" when at work. At least in office jobs.
Americans are eat up with social media, shopping online for needless shite, etc.

I'd rather be prosperous than lazy.
American prosperity is in comparison to the rest of the world. The person living above poverty in America has an infinitely better quality of life than most of the people in the world. There is a reason for that.

Hell no, we have more nukes because we work harder than everyone. THOU SHALT BOW DOWN TO THEIR MASTER

Let's compare it to western Europe. Being better off than india, Africa and China doesn't really move the needle.

Nope
Average workweek in the USA is around 35 hours
Posted on 3/21/18 at 10:49 am to JohnnyKilroy
The difference is minimal for many countries

According to the latest OECD data (2016), the major economic powers in Europe all worked significantly less than the Americans.
US: 1780 hours per year
UK: 1680
France: 1470
Germany: 1360
The average German works 76% of the hours worked by the average American.

The average German Makes less than the average american makes as well.
I work 37 hours a week with about 120 leave days per year and work 9-10 months a year. People don't have to work more than they need to

Also depends on the age of the person. That's a pretty good deal for anyone under 25. Most likely, they're working their asses off but are setting themselves up pretty well for the future.

Yep at my age I'm not willing to do it, but if I were in my 20s I probably would
