You can't form an educated or factually correct sentence, though.

That comma shouldn't be there, genius.

But then there's the 20% who are hourly employees, maybe the secretary, receptionist, office manager, whatever. How would they interpret the others skating through at 32 hours and them doing 40 hours?

If the people doing the real work only work 32 hours, the others have no reason to be there more than 32 hours either. So they either get bumped up in hourly pay which isn't likely, or they try to get a better job. Someone else will take the $10/hour to order paper from Staples.

Parental neglect, with parents being at work too much?

This doesn't seem to be much of a problem with parents who work.

Now if you say parent using the singular then yes. However it's not the work that's the problem, it's missing the other half of the equation.

Actually it would be grammatically correct with or without the comma.

A totally acceptable use of a comma in my sentence. Once again, (correct comma usage there) uneducated but going in full retard.

Use a comma near the end of a sentence to separate contrasted coordinate elements or to indicate a distinct pause or shift.

how to use a comma, read up, you need it

For what he's trying to say, it isn't. Glad that little piece of semantics got you back in the thread.

Whoops, that's when I was trolling a different baw in a fashion thread. He said sneakers are trashy, but he's a fat guy that only wears blue dress shirts with black pants and black slip on dress shoes from Payless.

Look, I'm all for companies making their own rules.

I just wish our populous would turn down job offers for jobs that require 50+ hours of work a week so companies would be forced to change.

But I, like you, choose to do that to get ahead because that's really the only way.

From the other side of the argument though, it is unmitigated competition and the drive for success that drives America to be what it is. That comes with certain drawbacks, companies who do take advantage of their workers, an "inequality" (if you want to call it that) of highly skilled, highly focused, and willing participants to get ahead more than others, and, probably, an overvaluing of "work," but that's the game. That's the drive, that's a huge part of why this country is what it is.

It's not it's the ONLY way, if people want to go work at a drive-thru for 40 hours a week, no more, then what is stopping you? The problem is that people want success and money, without the work that is behind that success.

You're way behind. We're talking about teachers and punctuation now. We're well past the OPs question.

It's definitely a strategic trade off, like anything else. A lot of the Nordics have figured it out - they are still pretty innovative, but they do put a huge emphasis on entrepreneurship and growth of small businesses. It is much easier to get a business off the ground in those countries than it is in the U.S. (and much, much easier than in most of the rest of Europe).

I'd also say that, for the high-end professional services (banking, consulting, corporate law, a lot of tech, etc.), my experience is that most Europeans work just as much as Americans do.

Sure, if you don’t mind not keeping up with the Jones’s. That’s the real root of America’s “work problem”.
