Is it me, or have commercials from personal injury attorneys tripled in the last year?

I counted no less than ten (10) commercials in a one hour time span the other night while I was watching Elf with my kids. They are literally on 24/7.
I used to be conflicted about this, as a defense attorney. Those guys have put food on my family's table for a long time. I appreciate they are competing hard for their share, and I'm just as much a capitalist as the next guy. But I think we have reached a saturation point. I think this shite is bad for the legal profession, but it's even worse for society as a whole.
Btw... one local guy advertises himself as "The Big Gun." Did you know that the Big Gun refers cases out to other attorneys if they are going to trial? But he's the Big Gun. Is the Big Gun afraid to try a case?
And don't get me started about "Ed Womac/Morris Bart got me $650,000." What a fricking shitstain on society these guys are.

Had lunch with Ed yesterday, you seem upset he could buy and sell you ten times over?

It’s funny because a prerequisite for these ambulance chasers is that all of them have hit an equal level of doucebaggery. I refuse for these arrogant assholes to collect any money I might spend on a lawyer.

It’s you.
The government has taken over space satellites to ensure you get an extra dose of these commercials

I actually don't mind Ed as a guy. He is not a bad guy. It's the system that is fricked up.
And no, I don't disparage anybody their millions if they make them legally.

Its getting a bit out of hand. Busses, billboards and ads at every segment, you cant get away from them. And seeming that these leaches are the prime reason we (Louisiana) motorists pay such high prices, its no wonder they advertise the way they do. A certain demographic count on these guys along with their tax refund for their livelihood.

Louisiana is full of shitty business owners and practices. Shitty drivers, theives and drug addicts. Shitty lawmakers and a few enforcers.

The bar could reel it in and I dont think anyone would mind but what is over the line and what do they have a right to do?
At some point you would have to say 'you cant advertise your business".

Living in Virginia there were basically no commercials for injury attorneys. I move back to Louisiana and the bombardment is constant and my car insurance doubled. Coincidence?

One problem with the DVR/Netflix world is the dynamic of television advertising in changing. Advertising is becoming less effective on "smart" people (who, in addition to avoiding most ads, will do a bunch of on-line research before making a major product decision to begin with).
As a result, ads are increasingly reaching for the last demographic to actually be significantly influenced by advertising - dumb people. But, without these dumb people the rest of us will get stuck paying more for entertainment, so... I guess I'm ok with it?

There’s a guy in my market who got lucky and hit a big case and has essentially turned his firm into a referral service. I knew it was bad when he put up multiple billboards touting bankruptcy

Agreed. I have a ton of friends who do PI. I get it: it's a job and someone is going to do it if they don't. Some times they really do look out for the little guy and right a wrong that occurred. More often than not, it's slimy tactics and trying to pump out an extra grand from the carrier.
System allows it, though.
