They were probably thinking "okay, this person is clearly trying to get the police away from her. What is she trying to hide?" If you are not doing anything wrong then why would you worry if police are behind you. If you are on a busy street they are not looking to pull you over unless you give them a reason to.
And? I have been pulled over by a police officer who was a complete dick for whatever reason, I really didn't give a shite, I just wanted him to hurry up and write my ticket so I could go. I bit my tongue and was respectful "yes sir" "no sir", but if you are upset because someone was mean to you..lol.

You really shouldn't fear the police following you, it's the guys in black suits and dark sunglasses with unmarked cars that I'd worry about.
