If you take 5 minutes to research this you'll find that you can do almost 100% of your smart home using local control aka no internet using zwave and zigbee devices.
Of course that takes more work and Amazon and Google are pushing wifi devices because they're super easy for the average customer to set up.
Having said all that I really enjoy my smart home. I have everything connected from my pool pump to door sensors to a zillion lightbulbs and it's a beautiful ballet each night as all of the lights go out, the doors lock and the garage doors close.
I enabled 2 factor authentication on my ring security cameras which are outside anyway and my garage doors and locks are all local control.
And yes I have Sonos speakers throughout my house and they're one of the best things I've ever bought.
This is the dumbest thing anyone has posted on here because you're sitting there posting on TD so everything you do can already be logged from your router which is far less secure than a doorbell your fussing about and can gather way more info about you.
This place never ceases to crack me up.
