I worked at a blood center that processed donated blood. The RBC were sold for $220, platelets were 65, plasma 60, platelet pheresis was 560. It's a business

I did it for the first time recently because my youngest daughter asked to help her school's blood drive. She received a shirt, which she has yet to wear.
I was able to find out about my cholesterol and iron levels, along with what my blood type is.

None of you know what you are talking about. All the blood donation companies are not-for-profits. It's illegal to take donated blood and sell for profit. Plasma centers are a different story. Furthermore, blood donation centers cannot pay for "donations"... also illegal. The reason being, the human blood supply cannot be tainted by high risk populations (junkies and whores).
Plasma centers collect plasma for industrial use. It cannot be transfused to a human.

Lol and you think you know how it works. The blood center I worked for was a non-profit. It's a business dude. I worked in two departments, one of which was distribution so I know they made money based off the enormous invoices. I'm sure the CEO could afford his BMW off of a 40k salary

Blood in turn isn't given to those who need it. On average a hospital charges $320-570 per unit of blood. They buy this blood from Red Cross or other blood centers for $130-150 a unit.
So you are giving blood because you want to help, but all your are doing is just providing a commodity for free. You are guilted into helping, but there is a business being made.
At least the Plasma centers pay the crackheads $20.
I had this discussion numerous times with co-workers. They give blood and I do not. I am O negative and am well aware that I have a rare type and am a universal donor. Why should I donate? If hospitals did not charge for blood then I would probably give. Hell, even if the government would give a $150 deduction per pint max of $450 a year then I would probably donate.

The guy teaching the actual 1st Aid college course when I was taking pre-med was one of the trainers for the football team, a grad student in phys ed.
I had to explain to him, the teacher, that you produce blood in the marrow after another student asked: "So you just run a pint low when you donate for the rest of your life?"
Any question on why said teacher told me not to bother even showing up again for class? I got a perfect 100% grade for the course.
