Is being simple and uneducated the best way to happiness?

Something can be said for ‘not knowing any better’. I realized that this weekend by watching others.
First there was the round of golf. Paired up with two guys that sucked balls but they were having a blast. Meanwhile, I’ve gotten down to a single digit handicap and am more pissed than usual since I don’t always break 80. They had a much better time than I did that day basically because they didn’t know better.
Then there was the LSU game I watched with a buddy of mine who doesn’t follow it that close. He had a blast watching the back and forth scores while I sulked for half the game bitching about things and only being relieved after the win.
I’m not a big music guy so can have a good time listening to almost anyone or anything. I see music buffs thinking everything sucks or this is too mainstream or that is too generic while it all sounds great to me.
I’ve realized that the more you know about something or the better you are at an activity, the fun factor goes way down. Time to lighten up and stop being so serious. Life is a rollercoaster. Anything more than moderation always leads to dissapointment. Happy 2019!

Having very low standards probably helps. Just settling for what you have and not trying to get better. Always trying to get more is stressful

Skillet seems pretty happy...

Being wise enough to realize that your golf game and the LSU game doesn’t really matter is the best way.

You can not be a dumbass and still not take shite like golf and 20 year old kids playing football serious. That's typically what I do.

This sounds like most liberals and they are mostly hateful and unhappy.

I work with a good ole Christian man. In his late 50s, probably about to retire. Very simple from out in the sticks doesn’t live above his means but lives very comfortably. He seems like the happiest, most pleasant man on earth.
I kinda see where you’re coming from

Just understanding that most people you deal with on a daily basis are very dumb helps a lot.

The only way to be truly happy is to decide to be happy.

The key is not to take life too seriously. Doesn't take a genius to figure that out.

Being highly educated and living a simple life is probably a better way.

You sound very simple and uneducated. Are you happy?

The football buff and the music buff that think they are educated are not
They know basic rules, rosters and stats. But most, including me, could never contribute in a film session w Dave Aranda.
Same w music people. They know what they like but most can’t read music

I kind of feel that way with national politics. The way I look at it is, TRUMP is my man. He is in charge. Since Trump is in office as opposed to Hillary or Obama, I can somewhat check out until 2020 when I get the opportunity to pull the lever for Trump again. I follow national politics - I just don't let it consume me 24x7. My friends are bitching and yelling on all these political forums about how shitty the DEMS are...I say, frick it. My guy is head dick in charge and I dont have to consume myself with all that crap. He and I have the same agenda and I voted for him and i back the decisions he makes. period.

The key is not letting pointless stuff take priority.
I like distance running and do what I can to improve my times. However I’m not going to get mad or upset because I had a bad race. My life hasn’t changed because of that.
I love watching sports on TV. If my team loses nothing changes in my life.
At the end of the day I have a solid job and can provide for my family. Not rich by any means but not struggling. I have a beautiful wife, good son and another on the way.
End of the day I focus on those things. No need to let unimportant things cause stress when I can be thankful for the important things.
