This may apply here. The more you realize exists that will “make you happy”, the higher the chance you won’t be.

Well, part of the problem is kids are not being educated any longer. Instead they’re being politically indoctrinated to become atheist progressive socialist which inherently leads to a life of misery and depression.

Happiness is elusive at best. It’s impossible to maintain because of the suffering that accompanies life . So try to find MEANING and you will have more happiness.
Humility and gratefulness are the requirements . Any time Ive been entitled or resentful misery has followed. This ties in to your question because many simple people are humble and grateful for what they have. And that should always be the starting point- being grateful for your blessings, no matter how small they seem.

Young people are imperically more educated than any generation in history. Smarter? Maybe not, but more educated? Absolutely.

In Voltaire's story of The Good Brahman a group of wise and accomplished men are watching a simple minded village boy and discussing the nature of happiness. They all agreed that they would never match the boy's blissful life but none would change places with him. And they all agreed that it was a poor decision based on vanity.

You’re right. They are more “educated”. But what passes for education now is, as I said, little more than thinly veiled political indoctrination. Education isn’t what it use to be.
Trust me, I see it more and more with every crop of college interns that come to the company I work for. With each passing year they know less and less about even the most simple business concepts and more and more about things like the environment, feminism, and “social justice”.

Simple and educated is better. If you approach it right, the education can help you find the simplest (and often the cheapest) way to live life.
But yes, you can take that too far. Don't worry about where the golf ball goes -- you might find a new spot on the course where you and yours can practice driving into the hole
