My mother is getting a divorce and she is afraid my stepdad can get or stop her prescriptions. She wants to keep them confidential. She moved out and is worrying that the pharmacy will mail out her drug information to her old house. I have never heard of a pharmacy mailing coupons or anything like that for a prescribed medication. Wouldn't that be a violation of her HIPAA rights?

TIA

If she doesn’t update her address, no

It’s a felony for someone else to open her mail

I'm no expert but I seriously doubt that is possible and if he is able to do so, it would constitute clear fraud.

Sounds like mama is a pill head and don't want her dope going to her hubby during separation.

Nobody would wonder about this shite for blood pressure and diabeetus meds.

Set up electronic eob and correspondence on her account for her. Should take care of things. Change of address at the source as well. Patient updates like addresses are real time by the way.

I'd say stepdad's going to drop her from his coverage and she'll be getting her own.

Hmm. I wonder why they're getting a divorce?

Why doesn't your mom just call the pharmacy that she uses and change her address if she's really concerned

Can’t she change her mailing address or go to a paperless account that they email everything?
