If I’m remembering correctly he dodged it and Waters let it go.

Waters: Was today the first time you referred to Maggie as Mags and Paul as Paupau?

Alex: No I called them that all the time

Waters: Is today the first time you referred to them by their nicknames on any official record?

Alex: I don’t recall

Then Alex smugly says "Mr Waters, I can refer to him as Paul if you'd prefer". Of course in his patented exaggerated drawl

You're obviously not from South Carolina. His family was well known in law enforcement. They have connections in SLED...I personally know that for a fact

So it was just bad luck that at that one point on the highway where her phone landed closest to just happened to be where Alex sped up (for the first time)?

He went from 42 mph to 44 mph over a few dots on the Onstar map. I beleive that was over roughly a minute.

No matter what happens this case has been terribly litigated on both sides

The SC prosecutor has been basically just trying not to make mistakes and their argument is extremely non linear

Also their phone forensics witness was a joke when he can't answer simple questions that the defense could. They also kinda seem like they're intentionally not having stuff answered

The defense attorney hasn't been doing much better and isn't pushing points well that need to be made (I assume because they don't want to know the answer to some of the questions)

If either side had a competent lawyer it would be a walk over.

Obviously SLED did no one any favors either

I assume it'll be a long deliberation with a not guilty solely because you only need one dissent

No chance. Maybe a hung jury but I cannot see a not guilty unless there is jury tampering.

I am really trying to be objective with the nicknames. When I use a nickname for my kids it could be when my mind is thinking of them as my precious babies in a term of expressed endearment.

If I were on trial for murder I don't think I would be calling them by their nicknames but it COULD be his mind trying to show endearment to cancel the horrific tragedy.

So he was there for a couple minutes took the chicken from bubba, then he left the property?

Wouldn't a phone call or texts be known (in evidence?) from Maggie to AM if she asked him to go to the kennel shortly before the murders?

One could argue that by using nicknames on and off he is showing that he’s not taking this very seriously

Wilyjones (page 48) made an insightful comment that (even with the emojii) may be all that's remembered of this in a decade or two.

quote:

Beyond a reasonable doubt is a much higher standard than that
nobody cares, they’ve watched the hbo series and they’ve seen the tv show hosts proclaim his guilt

To that add Netflix.

With total disdain, I'll ask how long until we see

Murdaugh the Musical off off Broadway featuring Bubba and the Chicken just before intermission?

Other than lying about the fact that I was at the murder scene around the time the murder occurred, I have cooperated fully with the investigation.

I think he did it. He was accumulating debt up to his eyeballs, and was in need of money. I'm sure Maggie and Paul both had life insurance policies on them, and in his drug riddled mind that was the only way to keep his drug addiction going.

I haven't seen either moviie. I read old stories about PawPaw and the boat and how he was an alter ego Timmy after binge drinking.

I am listening to the trial. Anyone watching to explain what happens for the judge to call for a break? Do lawyers signal him?

It seems AM was in a crucial moment on the hot seat of AM ----NOT hearing any shotguns fired and got saved with a break?

According to this thread the only insurance policy was for AM for 10Mil.

AM was adamant about Buster getting back in law school after he got kicked out for poor grades and plagiarism. 10Mil would be a fresh start to carry on the family name.

So he hired someone to kill all 3 of them-and AM chickened out and hid. (this is why he never admits to HEARING gun fire) because it is extreme guilt in his mind of chickening out

the ruthless hired killer was told to grab a preloaded gun from the wooden gun rack out there in the shop. Paul was murdered first and then the person grabbed another preloaded way ahead- by Ellick gun and killed Maggie.

There was a path where AM had pre-set up with a 4wheeler after a short walk on a path for the killer to escape via the wooded property.

Has anyone questioned the hunting paths on the 1700 acres?

Murdaugh was brilliant in using 2 different weapons, and getting rid of them both. He's a very smart attorney and it's going to be pretty tough to convict him. Had he not testified, I think they have a slam dunk acquittal.

At the moment, my guess is hung jury.

You just have to pray he gets his with the financial crimes. But with what we know about his family's generational corruption, I think he walks on that as well. Or gets a slap on the wrist.
