Alec's elder brother Randy was in court every day and just called Alec a serial liar. Randy believes Alec knows a lot more than he told and Randy found that Alec made no attempt to get info on who killed Maggie and Paul. This bothers him even more.

Four jurors have spoken so far, and I would welcome any of them to my home. This group wrote questions every day so they had something to discuss last Thursday. One said, if it had been him, he wouldn't have testified. Everyone knew he was a lawyer and would try to manipulate the jury.

And may Maggie and Paul visit you every night.

The judge postponed sentencing so that those who wished to be heard about the effects of the murders on them could be heard. After those statements beginning at (9:30) the judge will pronounce punishment which for the murders could be 30 years to life.

Four unanimous guilty verdicts : two murders and two possession of weapons.
Judge is deferring sentencing until those who wish to comment can make their statements.

Then it will be the Defense's turn. Will they be as long winded? Will Harpootian not present any of that side?

A Wednesday morning visit to the murder site, then closing and judge's instructions to the jury. The Prosecution is taking longer than most expected.

Good information from Cajunangelle on page 50.
So much for the trial lasting three weeks.

Tiger Droppings has a lot to say about this trial, a whole lot.

Alex Murdaugh was on the stand for hours. He mea culpad countless times in admitting he lied and lied and lied some more. Tears (his) flowed. Contrition washed over him. To me he appeared to hunch down in his seat to appear smaller and powerless.
We learned how to get a Labby to drop a traumatized chicken (Bubba dog.) Doesn't get much more folksy than that.
He said he didn't murder his son or his wife.

Alex Murdaugh about to take the stand. As one commentator said he can decide to at any time, I'll believe it when he places his hand on the Bible.

The Independent reported that the courtroom on Tuesday was crowded with friends and family of the Murdaughs. Will the crowd continue through the defense which they said would end by Friday.

After calling two witnesses last Friday, the Defense has a long list of possible witnesses with CNN reporting that a source told them Buster Murdaugh will testify for his Father.

The Onstar records locations in SECONDS. He 'discovered' the bodies, checked each for signs of life, etc. misdialled 911 (too many 1's) all in ten seconds???

Onstar showed him at his Mother's home for 20 minutes.

Thursday after a question about Cousin Eddy supplier of drugs to AM for many thousands of dollars, judge said they opened the door to discussion of the 'attempt on AM's life' months after the murders this trial is about.
Cousin Eddie is said to have received checks from AM for two point five million dollars, which had not entered the scope of this trial yet.

Tuesday: Defense trying to rattle the ME. Jury already moved by crime scene photos in color.

Beginning of week 4 and change in jurors because of two Covids. DNA seems to be leading the week.
LINK

As week 3 draws to a close, Murdaugh's family caught the attention of CNN for their actions and got themselves moved back in the court room, and the Lawyer for Mallory Beach faces cross examination. Then there are more financials that the jury will hear for the first time that were heard in open court earlier.

Week 3 said to begin with (jury not hearing) testimony about the financial liability of the family in the death of the young woman on Paul's BUI boat excursion.
Then the judge ruled TO allow inclusion of the multiple financial liabilities as affecting alleged motives. A timeline of use of AM's Suburban was also introduced showing his vehicle was used when his alibi said he was napping.

This trial has the Father accused of murdering his son (with the second shot, his head exploded like a watermelon) and his wife (multiple shots with a different gun from the one used on the son with a final kill shot to the back of the head.

AM said "......did him so bad" and there is no agreement on the ....

Week 2 has had the testimony identifying Alex Murdaugh's voice at the crime scene very shortly (minutes) before his son's phone there went dead. Also AM's change of clothes from afternoon to finding the bodies.

Week one produced crime scene photos shown to the jury, police giving their evidence and defense activity.

If there's one person that would be ideal for the left to target for white privilege, it'd probably be this dude. Instead, they're bitching about your every day baw who probably struggles just like everyone else in this world.

This dude appears to be a huge psychopath, sociopath and general POS.

People think he's connected to 3 or 4 other murders there if I remember correctly.

The whole family had been a circus in the years leading up to the wife and son’s murder. The pill popping, bankrupt dad couldn’t handle getting exposed for being a fraud.

That entire family is fricked, and it goes back generations. The shitbag on trial is the final form of that frickery.

They were. It's easy to see how this dude turned out like he did. Not saying that excuses anything, obviously. But I can see how he turned out that way given the environment, money and power that surrounded him his whole life.

Am I remembering correctly that they think he's involved in 3 or 4 other murders the cops helped cover up?

I think one was a young kid, maybe a maid and I want to say a couple other people (besides his son and wife).

Been a min since I’ve looked at this one but was it the little shite son who did some of that? I 100 percent could be wrong. Like the son running over a girl in a boat etc.

The now-dead son was not of age to drink but had been drinking, had friends on a boat, hit a cement (?) bridge and one of the very photogenic girls was thrown out, died either from blunt force trauma or drowning and her body was found a week later. Son was accused, Mother and alive brother were also accused of helping now-dead son buy booze. That's one death.

The family housekeeper fell down the stairs and died. Dad did some wierd stuff to get his insurance to pay out to her sons, but somehow the sons never got the money. That's a second body that could have been an accident but was bad juju on the part of the Father.

Third was a young man who might have been more than an acquaintance of the now-dead son, who died as a victim of a hit and run. That's a third dead person with no charges places and a tenuous connection to the family.

The fourth dead body said to be from natural causes was the Father's Father, dead-son's grandfather, who was said to have provided the Father with an alibi of a hospital visit the night of the murders. His death was three days after the two family murders.

This is the way I remember it; I hope I'm more accurate that Prince Harry, but corrections are welcomed.

The financial crimes alone will put him away for life. Harpootlian may be able to hang the jury on the murder charges. The trial is in Walterboro I believe, which is in the county adjacent to Hampton County not too far from Edisto.

I don't remember. I may be making this up, but was that the reason they thought it was the dad?

It seemed that people that the dad perceived as doing wrong to his family or business, ended up dead.

Makes me think part of the reason he killed them was to shut them up. The relationship was clearly strained, his business was failing and IIRC, he was on drugs. I know this guy is crazy but for him, I don't think he would care if they found out about his shady shite. However, to keep them from talking, I'd imagine this psycho didn't care at that point it was his wife and son. Only speculating here, obviously.

I believe that's a fair account. Reading this made me remember some of the details and it looks like you got them right. Thanks for that.

Do they even think they can get him for the murders? Isn't it a lot of circumstantial evidence?

The son's BUI charge was the beginning of the unraveling. The civil cases would have opened up the books to Alex's finances. And depending on who you believe, there was a separation between Alex and Maggie. Apparently she may have even been living in Edisto. I believe Maggie told a friend she was apprehensive about meeting Alex on the day of the murders and that he was up to something. There's tons of motive for both imo.

Thanks for that info. Good to hear on this from someone out that way.

It's sad to see no matter what. Is SC a death penalty state? And if so, will they go for that?

I think they believe they can convict him. The Colleton County jury pool is not as tied to the Murdaughs as a Hampton County or even a Jasper County jury would be. Even though they border each other, most of Colleton County is tied to Charleston. The Hampton crowd is more tied to Beaufort.
