I think the fact that he stole from so many people added to the Mallory Beach crime added to the gay kid murder rumors shows that there are many people who had a motive to hurt his family.
To me, that’s reasonable doubt.

I completely agree with this. If I were the defense, I would concentrate on this. The financial crimes and his previous wrongdoings being allowed in the case— I would use this as my advantage.

Good point, and I would agree, except for it doesn't make sense for murdering the wife that was already divorcing Alex. That favors Alex. And letting Buster walk, who they suspect killed the gay kid?
Much more plausible if PauPau and Bus got popped.

His family was deeply embedded in law enforcement/courts there. They owned the town.
AM had a badge and cop running lights on his Mercedes Benz FFS
I would even bet AM gets special jail privileges in the 2 years he has been there.
He could have a pardon coming.
Court is back on. I forgot to hit replay and missed some testimony.

He actually testified he had 2 badges. He used his grandfather's (I think) badge as well.

I'd like to think that if I was accused of a double murder, I'd spend the time in jail before my trial recounting every single thing I'd done that night to prove my innocence.
The lack of clear recollection of his actions on the most significant night of his life is what would cast doubt on me if I was a juror. It's just incomprehensible to me.

Alex didn't know about the video on Paul's phone around 8:45pm. His alibi is plausible if he didn't go to the kennels. That evidence caused him to change his story. Dude is guilty as hell in my opinion.

Alex has been held at the Alvin S. Glenn jail in Columbia since he was arrested. It has been in the papers on how bad Columbia's jail is.

I don’t believe this has been proven but I certainly could’ve missed it.
If you believe the money laundering, drug/prostitution ring rumors (which I do) that explains why you kill some of Alex’s family and leave Alex (the cash cow) alive

Maggie and Alex were separated at the time of her death.
quote:
According to a Nov 2021 New York Post report, sources had said the former couple were living separate lives and at the time of her death. She was reportedly living in Edisto Beach, with Alex at the hunting lodge.

According to several sources, Maggie and Alex had hit a rough patch in their marriage, and she was staying at the family's beach house on Edisto Island, approximately an hour away from the family's estate.

This is another big unknown. Maggie was living at the beach house. Before they were murdered, it has been said Maggie found duffel bags pills and looked up 30Mg oxycodone in her browser history.
One could argue Maggie didn't like the bugs and heat at any of their other homes and liked the beach house she was remodeling.
But along with this, it does seem AM's double life and dirty deeds of theft were out for the first time-so they argued.

None of that fits with what Maggie’s own sister said on the stand.

“Living separate lives” does not mean they were legally separated

My thought is the boating accident was the wrong group to blame. They are all likeable. He should have pivoted to blaming the drug runners/Cowboys early on.
His firm confronted him about stolen money on June 7th. He tells the people extorting him for money and using the exposure of his oxy addiction as blackmail that the gig is up and he will no longer be able to funnel $50k to them through his legal work. They respond that day by killing Maggie and Paul, showing Alex how vulnerable he was and that they still expected him to find a way to pay. They keep him alive because he is the source of the money. They keep Buster alive because they will be able to threaten Alex with killing him if he does not come through with payments. Alex became so hopeless in the situation it was easier if he died (by Cousin Eddie killing him), which would remove the threat to Buster and still give Buster a $12 million insurance payout. He knew who killed Maggie and Paul, but fears retribution. Cowboys knew nobody would convict Alex, so them killing Maggie and Paul (maybe even in front of Alex) would not hurt Alex’s earning potential for them.

Maggie had been humiliated in front of her social set by having donations to charities bounce for the checks having insufficient funds. This was 'public' before the trial started. That she had seen a divorce lawyer in Charleston was mentioned as was her getting a forensic accountant to see where the money had gone.
If any of that is true, wouldn't it show up as checks written. Nevermind. She couldn't write a check on a joint account for two reasons: Alex would see it and it might bounce.
Another loose end: that receipt to Gucci that was found near her body: who bought what for whom? Could someone have bought something for a Paramore and Maggi knew it was never given to her? THIS IS JUST CONJECTURE,NOTHING MORE>

It’s also been said that she stayed at the beach house bc the famiky wasn’t treated well in the other location after the boat accident.

The dude was out his mind on Oxy and his best alibi was that he was asleep and with his mom who has dementia. And he couldn’t even keep that one straight. I don’t think he was capable of coming up with something this intricate in any way shape or form lol

If AM fesses up to the cowboys hit on Maggie & Paul. Then he knows Buster is as good as dead.
But, with AM's connections. He could very quietly inform his lawyers of this to get Buster into protection and eliminate the cowboys. Unless the cowboys are cartel tied and will never go away?
