You are bringing it to the wrong places. I've never had more than the horn, headlights, taillights and turn signals checked. Most will look past the tint.

We have the worst legislature in the country.

These buffoons get in office and forget they work for us, not the other way around.

Is anyone remotely shocked this failed? Any mechanism that allows state reps to move money from the people to their pockets is never going away.

St. Gabriel PD says, "come swing by"

I've "swung by" many times. I've been pulled over 4 times in the last 9 years and none of them resulted in me getting an ticket, both with an expired sticker and even without a sticker at all.

I haven't bought a brake tag since probably 2010. Never had any issues.

Just add the $18 to my registration and leave us alone. It is such a colossal pain in the arse to get an inspection sticker. Nobody does it anymore. It's fricking retarded.

I recently traded up and the newer truck has an inspection sticker but I haven't bought one since 2017. I lived in Florida for a few years so there is a caveat but I've been back in Louisiana for a couple of years. frick em

from the website ShreveportTimes:

But supporters of the program pushed back, including those who operate inspection stations.

"We have a lot of integrity," said Kathy Slavant, whose family has operated an inspection station in Walker for 25 years. "That's not true."

Neal Underwood, who represents the Louisiana Motor Vehicle Station Inspection owners, said crashes and fatalities have risen in states where inspection sticker programs have been eliminated.

"It's all about the safety of vehicles on the road," said Underwood, who also suggested scrapping the program could cause insurance rates to rise in the state.

One of the rebuttals I remember reading was that some businesses survive because the inspection stickers exist.

They can find another business or learn to code or whatever. A few mom and pop operations shouldn't affect 99.9999% of the population.

I have an old vehicle that won’t pass emissions and needs a new catalytic converter. Haven’t had a sticker on it for years. No ticket yet but I figure the fine will be less than the repair so I’m just gonna let it ride.

Same, I just give the guy an extra 10 and he just gives me a sticker.
