Sounds like someone’s mad they didn’t get $3M in scholarship offers.

It probably isn't hard when applying to 60+ schools. It's not like the person gets that much once they select one school. Chances are great they probably don't even receive over $100k - which is still a lot though.

I hate the articles that talk about people having a 4.2 GPA or whatever. Like what does that even mean if every school has some different scale. If 4.2 is the max, then that is great. If 8.0 is the max then that is awful.

The old 4.0 max scale was easier to sort through.

There is a trend among black high schools to get their best and brightest to apply to 100+ schools (most will waive app fees for low income) and get all the scholarships and then brag that they received millions in scholarships. There's no harm in it, and it makes them feel good, its just dishonest.

, this isn't a "trend among black high schools." This has been happening for decades everywhere.

Just went to my kids senior honors banquet and one kid had $5.2 million in Scholorship offers. Here is his picture see if you know him.

Another kid had a Naval Scholorship to Vandy worth $256000.

. I’ve posted this before, but one of the co-Valedictorians in my son’s class got a perfect score on her ACT TWICE

If you got a 36 on it once.. what’s the benefit of taking it twice ? I don’t understand that .

I wish schools announce how much money the kids accepted and not got. Counting free tuition at 10 colleges is just devaluing the whole thing

Here is a hint. He walked across the stage last night at his Highschool graduation but somehow made the SEC all freshman team.

YOu all don't care because you probably aren't footing a college tuition bill at the moment. Congrats to any kid that can get some cash to attend the school they end up going to. At least they won't be a burden with student loans they won't end up paying off.

Yeah, I'm thinking that those are the only schools that offered them free rides, though many others accepted. There's a buttload of valedictorians in this country. They can't all get full rides to Harvard.

They get to $3 mil by multiplying all annual aid offered by each college by four, and adding all offers together. A 50% scholarship to Tulane is worth $120,000, but you still have to come up with $120,000 to take advantage of the offer.

My oldest was accepted to 11 or 12 expensive colleges. If we ever added it up, she was probably offered $2 mil in total scholarship money, but was not offered a full ride anywhere

I'm not going to accept a kid who feels the need to take the ACT again after a perfect score.

This is the same thing as promoting your kid made the honor roll in elementary school. Nobody gives a frick about your kids scholarship (real or fake) but your immediate family.
