Hmmmm...... OK. You have my attention.
Oh yeah. Here we go!
Well, frick.
Some FB Karen posted this bullshite on my FB feed today when I said this coronavirus was bullshite. This is what is passing for journalism. Amazing how bad it is and even more amazing at how stupid people are.

Coronavirus death counts are based on positive tests and driven by hospital deaths. But data from major metropolitan areas shows a spike in at-home deaths, prompting one expert to say current numbers were just “the tip of the iceberg.”
Hmmmm...... OK. You have my attention.

Experts say it’s possible that some of the jump in at-home death stems from people infected by the virus who either didn’t seek treatment or did but were instructed to shelter in place, and that the undercount is exacerbated by lack of comprehensive testing.
Oh yeah. Here we go!

It’s also possible that the increase in at-home deaths reflects people dying from other ailments like heart attacks because they couldn’t get to a hospital or refused to go, fearful they’d contract COVID-19.

I don’t know anyone that died at home.
Do you?
Does anyone else?

Does anyone else?

Maybe there’s a spike in people dying at home because everyone is at home?

Some people who are ill and dying know that If they go to a hospital to die, their love ones will be precluded from seeing them in their last hours and are choosing instead to die at home.

I mean, these sound like pretty reasonable assumptions

What, specifically, is the problem with the article?

Congrats?
The people who think it's all a hoax and the people so afraid that they're scared to leave their house are two sides of the same coin.

I have been saying that we have no idea how many are dying because they aren't getting proper treatment for other ailments.

Yep.
Plus people scared to go to hospital so die from things they might have survived with timely help.
Another consequence of shutdown.

That and because people are afraid to go to hospitals because this virus has been painted as more dangerous than heart attacks.

I have been saying that we have no idea how many are dying because they aren't getting proper treatment for other ailments.
Clinics offered a great buffer for those who had ailments and needed evaluation to determine progression.
We removed that and forced them to either come to the ER or stay at home.
Add this to the list of retarded stances taken by governments, the medical community (primarily administrators), and the dumbasses who think every element of society should be closed off.

Fox news just did a report that now New York is reporting probable deaths on top of confirmed deaths. With the probable deaths that increases their death number by 57%. Now I guess we’re going to start seeing this all over the country

I had a cousin that couldn't get her ongoing cancer treatments at MD Anderson. She passed away a little over a week ago. She was going to anyway eventually but I have little doubt this sped that along.
I have an uncle dealing with health issues including strokes. He is "visiting" his Dr via Zoom. You can't tell me he is getting the medical attention he may need. No telling if this will shorten his life but I think a good argument can be made that it is possible.
Now multiply that by millions and you see why so many of us think the measures we have taken were too draconian and will hurt more than it helps.
