Yes, and stiff penalties for those cruising in the left lane.

It's
The
Passing
Lane!

I drive it every day. It’s all 3 lane in the area I live in.

People that dont understand that the left lane should only be for passing, should be put down.

It's the easiest concept for a developed mind. If you cant figure that out, then you are not contributing to civilization.

I think it needs to be enforced on those who stay in the left lane. However, I think it's perfectly reasonable to move over into the left lane when there's a line of vehicles trying to merge into traffic from the right from an entrance ramp, especially if there is a really short acceleration lane and/or 18 wheelers.

One of my favorite things to do is move from the right lane to the left lane when I see someone obviously speeding down the left lane behind me well over the speed limit and force them to slow down and get boxed in.

So is speeding, and isn’t enforced nearly enough.

Speeding is the only thing that is enforced - because it’s easy and most cops are lazy.

Just depends on the area, some places have left exits so slower traffic does meet to be in the left lane.

Sometimes even the far left lane is for HOV usage, or managed toll lanes. But those are typically stripped as such and anyone wishing for a ticket or to pay a toll would use those lanes as a passing lane.

No. Police powers should belong to the states.

I also don't like the de facto national drinking age of 21. That should be left to the states as well.

Left lane campers and driving under the speed limit should be ticketed equally.

Yes, we need our federal government to have a tighter grip on every one of us.

Make - no using blinkers - a felony while we are at it.

We need to enforce the laws on the books now before we create another.

I'm fine with a strict law on left-lane campers, if it is coupled with strict penalties for left-lane speeders. Some people apparently feel the left lane is their personal Indianapolis.

There would be exponentially fewer accidents if they fined lett lane lurkers. Very few “speeding” accidents are straight line open-road accidents, it’s during lane changes or coming up on a left lane speed limit enforcer.

I drive at least 36k per year, most of it on interstates. The amount of assholes that love to “checkerboard” cruise is infuriating. They leave no option for people to get by and cause backups. I wish a damn cop would have the guts to start writing tickets. Or hell, enforce it with cameras. When you can see open road but no one can get to it because left lane lurkers and self-appointed Barney Fife’s… it’s ridiculous.

To the OP, not sure about a national law, but I am for treating it like a DUI and mandating driving school.

If you want a national law for left lane driving, then you should also want a national law for texting & driving, with commensurate punishment.

Sure. But nobody will follow it and nobody will enforce it. Just like being on your phone.
