According to wiki there are monuments and streets named after him in over 30 countries. Even an airport.

I think his only fault was being born white.

Well it's been obvious to me, the SJWs won't ever stop. Tear down a statue, and they'll want a road renamed. Rename a road, and they'll want a city renamed. Anything to do with western (white) history will have to go. And it's mostly white guilt SJWs pushing this nonsense, trying to attach themselves to a "movement" and feel like they're changing the world.

And what's sad in this case with the statues, no one gave a damn and few locals probably were even aware of them beyond Lee Circle.

Yeah, I don't get this one. There's gotta be a few hundred other streets in the city named after white racist crackers (including some French and Spanish Colonials) that you have to change up, if you're gonna go after DeGaulle. Hell, its got to be most streets, I would think.

Please don't bring your dumbasses to Lakeview. That shite will stop with the quickness. Even Mitch isn't stupid enough to go into his tax base's neighborhood and frick with them is he?

All the money will immediately move to Metairie and the north shore

Martin Luther King Jr was a womanizer and adulterer. I notice his name isn't there.

Washington, Jefferson, Adams all slave owners. Their names aren't there.

Ignorant hypocrital fricks

The power to bestow names is massive.
Naming things or people is often a ritual for a reason. It's a big thing for the human mind, the privilege of giving a name.

There's tremendous power that these people seek. Many of the street names in the city were contemporarily named, as the city expanded and those who sold the land for development. You can follow the city's growth and when by the names on the streets, and some of the sentiment in the city at those times.

Right. A lot of them were named after the old plantation owners and their families, of whose property they carved up to create the city.

Seems we gotta purge that shite STAT!

Again I think you overestimate the IQ of the majority of voters in Orleans parish.

He's certainly not doing an favors to our alma mater.

Mitch and "city" don't want them, but good luck letting anyone else have them. It'll take one hell of a Landrieu and Suber palm-greasing to even get a glimpse of them, from now on.

I stated in a thread earlier in the week, that entities in Jefferson and St. Bernard Parish should try to acquire them, and simply erect them just outside of Orleans on the major thoroughfares...I 10 at the 17th St. Canal, or Airline. St. Bernard Highway or Judge Perez right past Jackson Barracks....

The backlash from businesses on all those streets will be too great; he'll never get them changed.

Mitch probably doesn't care about renaming all this stuff. He made his point and scored his SJW points with the statues.
