But it does happen enough. If blacks are given harsher sentences than whites, basically whites getting preferential treatment in the court room, isn't it logical to assume that they will get that same preferential treatment when encountering police officers? Do you assume that disparity in the justice systems begins and ends in the court room?

Like I said. Show me the data and I'll agree with you.

You still don't understand statistics. Taking a comment you saw on a message board and extrapolating it over a nation of 300+ million people is laughable. It's ok, statistics aren't for everyone.

wait, are you saying since folks halfway across the world have it bad, that we shouldn't look to improve race relations in the US?
Nooo.

Race relations should always be improving. And it's awesome that they have been over the decades.

I think it would REALLY help moving forward if people understood that slavery isn't just a white person thing.

I honestly believe that a big percentage of black people in this country attribute 100% of the slavery in the world to white people living in America right now. Which in turn, creates a built in divide for many.

His policies are the entire basis for the war on drugs. He created the DEA. We spend an estimated 51 billion dollars a year on drug enforcement and for what? Where is the ROI? How are they preventing drugs from entering this country? We have been at this for 4 decades and yet there is no end in sight. We need to reconsider how we treat drugs in this country. Legalization of some kind or a combination of decriminalization and treatment needs to be considered. The problem is I just advocated for taking on the DEA, the private prison business, and the pharmaceutical companies.

The WoD is a shite show that needs a major overhaul. It's victims know the consequences going in though. I have zero sympathy for them.

Okay, dude. You just want to continue being blind to it. It is okay. That is the conservative thing to do.

If you wanted to know you'd seek the information. It isn't hard. It is out there to be consumed.

I actually have a degree in finance and a minor in econ so I understand statistics just fine. I just happened to have three really good professors that emphasized on the numbers you don't see, how numbers can and will be manipulated and the false truths of skewing. But it doesn't fit your narrative and message of fair treatment so you discredit it.

I'm fairly certain the less resourses you have, the harder you're going to be fricked over in court.

You would not BELIEVE the number of otherwise educated minorities I've debated over the past couple years who honestly believe slavery and racist behavior are a one way street.

Once that mindset gets entrenched, it's difficult to unseat.

I've been asking you for stats so that I'm not blind to the "problem" you proposed. You haven't provided any. I'll be happy to change my mind if you give me the facts. Please, I'm asking to be proven wrong.

My man..

It's accepted message board protocol to link info you want people to consume when debating with em.

I don't think the dude is trying to be a dick or anything.

Would it be illegal to say go to one of these auctions and buy them, get them a green card to come to the US, and pay them to work for you?

Obviously you couldn't force them to work for you, but most likely they'd be happy to for getting them out of there

His original point was that whites don't have records because when they get busted with drugs, the cops take their drugs and sell them on the side, but they don't take black people's drugs and arrest them instead. And he's yet to give me any facts that prove that ridiculous theory.

And I agree that the less resources you have, the harder it will be for you in court, but that's about being poor not the color of one's skin.

In Monty's defense, you have to take some stats classes to get a business degree at most schools. At least I had to at A&M.

It's especially silly when there are vast swaths of this country that don't have any black people, yet manage to keep their jails full of drug offenders.

You're correct. It's a class issue. Police aren't letting white people go. They're letting well-connected people go.

This is something that I believe I will never understand. I, too, have met many otherwise awesome, well-educated minorities who are deadset on the whole oppression bullshite pushed by the liberals. It honestly amazes me every time I talk to someone who grew up in the ghetto and is now successful and educated that they still believe white supremacy and oppression is a real thing. I always want to ask if they believe that the white man just somehow forgot about them and let them slip through the cracks.

I've sorta picked up on it through random conversations I've had or listened in on.

And in no way, shape, or form do I think it's important to understand so that white people can then turn around and say, "see!!! Y'all did/do it too so what our ancestors did wasn't all that bad!" <---- I'm sure plenty white folks think that way.

Slavery is still alive and well in 2017. There are people who think it's fine. And people are selling and enslaving their own people, even. I think if more people sat and pondered that fact, they'd in turn realize the work most everyone in this country has put in to end that awful shite.

Dammit, I think what this country has been through should bring people together at this point. Instead, I feel like some people hold white folks living right now for like, almost ALL slavery...because they don't know the full scope of it.

What injustices? I'm being serious. White men are more likely to be killed by police than black men. White men are more likely to be killed by a minority than a minority by a white.

But looks like what goes on in Africa just carried over here. The biggest threat to a black man, is other black men. It's true there and it's true here.

Oh I jumped in a little late.

I was just going to lay that at the feet of an evil autocorrect overlord

Almost the same meaning either way the way you used it though, tbh.
