One sunday morning in 1967 my Dad was headed to the store to pick up a few things. He had my oldest brother and middle brother in the car with him. A drunk who was home on leave from the Navy was headed west on hwy 22 just outside of Ponchatoula, my Dad was headed east. The drunk came into my Dad's lane so my Dad went onto the shoulder the drunk kept coming. It got to the point to where my Dad was in the ditch trying to avoid him, but he still hit my Dad head on. Oldest brother was on the passenger side and had one scratch on him. My Dad had pinned my other brother against the seat ( this was before child car seats ) the dash board came back and hit my brother in the head killing him instantly. My Dad was trapped in the car. His knee and hip was destroyed. He now has half of a knee cap and knee and hip are wired together. It took him 6 months to recover. He said he seriously considered killing the guy. To the point that he had friends of his track the guy down and found out where he hung out and such. The only thing that stopped him was he said he thought about what would happen to my mom and brother if he did kill the guy. Justice was sort of served about a year after the accident the drunk sucked on the business end of a .410.
Hopefully this girl has a similar experience.

Two counts of vehicular homicide is not going to be a suspended sentence. I’ve seen several 20-yr sentences handed down for a single count.
I don’t know why people think Louisiana doesn’t imprison people. No where in the world does it more.
