best thing is life in jail.. that would be worse for someone like her than death
She won’t get life. But unless there’s some reason she isn’t convicted of vehicular homicide, she’ll get prison time.

And just a few years ago, a baw mowed down like 5 people and fled the scene in Hammond and is already out.
I remember that, but don’t remember the sentence. But the law has changed since then. Vehicular homicide is now a crime of violence so parole/good time doesn’t come as quickly.

Terrible....just awful. Prayers for the family.

She’s looking at serious prison time. She probably does indeed give a frick now.
Anything less than life with no parole isn’t ‘serious time’ ... sentences for vehicular homicide are a joke in every state, esp when it’s dui ...

I just posted the damn sentencing range. It’s not DUI, it’s vehicular homicide. 5-30 years per charge, and it’s a crime of violence so parole probably 85%. I’ve personally seen sentences of 20 years. They aren’t always that much, but sometimes they are. Kill a baby in Tangipahoa? Probably will be some years.

As I said, 30 years with a chance of parole is a joke ...

This happened over two years ago. Does anyone know what happened to the driver? I couldn't find anything when I googled.

Doesn't have a flat line date? What was her sentence?
Weird. No coverage at all about this case online. Did none of the media follow up? I might just make a trip to the clerk's office.

Yeah, that is weird that there's no follow-up, especially since the incident happened around Christmas and involved a child.

What happened to the girl that ran into the back of a vehicle on the causeway and killed a man. It was like her 4th DUI or something. She was an SLU student.

I hate drunk drivers. Lock them up and throw away the key
Posted on 8/4/20 at 8:37 am to TigersSEC2010
The amount of people that are on the drunk driver's side that was shot by the police is sickening.
The comments about how he didn't deserve to be arrested in the first place.
That piece of shite was passed out in a drive thru. Someone is lucky he didn't fricking kill them that night. Only he lost is useless life.

Authorities said Ramsay suffered only minor injuries in the crash and was able to get out of her car.

This is such a cliche. In Mississippi, you can get up to 25 years under the Aggravated DUI law for merely injuring someone. You don't have to have a certain BAC, nor does the injury have to meet any particular severity threshold.
When I lived in Gulfport, I knew a guy who made a lot of money defending people charged under that statute. His retainer was either $50,000 or $100,000- my memory fails me on that. His comment to me was that the Aggravated DUI law was like his own personal license to print money and that it was completely unfair.

Don't you have 7 DUI? How Cann you sit in judgment of this woman?

The reason they live is because they don't tense up right before the accident. Murder is intentional. If you they are impaired its not intentional,so it's not murder.

UNLESS you willingly consumed whatever intoxicant is impairing your driving. Which covers close to 99.9% of DUI homicides.
