Join Planet Fitness and do the Cryo Lounger first for free and see if you like it

Yes
Did it for about a year. No benefits whatsoever. I think it’s over rated.
I have friends that swear by it tho

Just remember. Heat makes things expand, cold makes things shrink. Which one does your dick need most?

I have one and a big fan of it. I disagree with the cold shower first. I can’t stand cold showers, but find the plunges not too bad after the initial shock. I live in Louisiana and during the summer it’s more of a cool shower at best and winter time just sucks.

Was this rehab for your body or for your nose? Either way, interesting they had a cold plunge

You’d be better off actually going to train rather than spending money on cold plunges

I will check out the cryo lounger at planet fitness. Curious as to what it’s all about. Thanks for the recommendation.

Just buy a ZERO POD to get your tub water colder. They're like $800-900.

Seems cheaper to buy a large ice machine and use your bath tub or a trashcan. Plus then you have unlimited ice for home use.

Will make a nice clothes rack after you use it 2 or 3 times.

It negatively affect muscle building which is enough for me to not do it regularly even though I do enjoy it occasionally. Building muscle for me is hard enough as it is

Your reply is the first. How can you judge the other responses without having seen the replies? Are you in a room with several other posters watching how they react to posts?

frickin' weirdo!

Couldn't you just dump a bunch of ice in your bathtub a few times to see if it's something you'll like and regularly do first?

We have the plunge pro - it is $7,000.
two bags of ice 5 bucks
put the lid on the trash can after use and you can use the water again indefinitely

My gym has one so I’ve been doing it about 3x/week for past year. Usually about 5 minutes at 57 degrees.
Mostly as the last thing I do but sometimes as a preworkout (5 minutes hot tub, then 3 or so cold plunge).
I enjoy it although no life changing differences noticed. I’m very thankful that I’m almost 50 and body still feels 30ish when properly warmed up.

Unless you just rushed for over 100 yds and have another game next week I have no idea why anyone would subject themselves to that torture.

Is anyone having problems with muscles spazzing out when the plunge?

Mine is simple. I just got a metal trough from TSC and I use it from mid October until may. The weather dictates what temperature I have. Some days it's 55. Some days I'm breaking ice to get in. Been doing it for a few years now.
I use my cold plunge as a sort of meditation or yoga chamber. It's about putting mind over pain. Every morning my body fights me getting into it, but I focus on my breathing and meditate until I no longer feel the cold. It's hard, and it takes practice. Some days I can't get to that point, but when I do, it's bliss. It's almost a high.
I've seen videos of people doing it and they're fighting the cold. They're tightening up their body, breathing quickly, and vocally voicing displeasure as they wait for the timer to tick down. Don't. Let it be. Accept that you will be miserable going in, and push through it to calm your body and mind. Focus on slowing your breathing. Keep your mind on the air coming in and out of your nose or your belly rising and falling. A thought will come to you. Acknowledge it and let it go. Go back to your breathing. Repeat.
Some people claim physical benefits. Maybe there are. Maybe there aren't. I'm all about the mental.
As others said, start with cold showers. That's how I got into it. Honestly, showers are harder than baths.
As for temps, between 50-60 is doable for most most people. 42-50 starts to get tough. Below 40 is hard. Really hard. Your body really fights you at those temperatures.
