The same culture of people who mangled it into Loo-uh-vull also pronounce bear as either burr or bahr. They can't be trusted with language.

I’m sorry, but it’s LOO-ee-vill, not LOO-uh-vull
The city in Kentucky: LOO-ee-vill
The street in Monroe: LOO-uh-vull
This is non-negotiable.

Yep. And I also expect Parisians to pronounce the "s" in Paris.
Who the frick do those frogs think they are not pronouncing their city the way I prefer it pronounced.

uhhh...Ville is the one that sounds redneck. Nashville (more than 2 syllables, Lou-ee-ville, Hunts-ville...and they're everywhere in Tennessee. Cook-ville, Cross-ville, McMinn-ville...oh so redneck sounding.

Judge away. Louisville, Nashville, Huntsville, and so forth are never going to be pronounced with "vul" from me. It sounds so redneck.
Enjoy your watered down accent. I'll continue on with my drawl.

Apples and oranges. I don’t know how Louisville is pronounced in French but in English it’s LOO-ee-vill.

This. Half our state is pronounced the way it is because our people are too fricking dumb to say it right

Have you heard how non-locals pronounce Baton Rouge?

Like A-bear and He-bert? I'm guessing the ones from North of I-10 are the dumb ones?

I live in Baton Rouge. If all of us collectively started to pronounce it jam-SOO-plunk, it wouldn’t make it correct.
Well, that is just stupid.
