I don't own a yeti because it holds ice longer. I own a yeti because it's indestructible.

Enjoy buying a new igloo when yours shits the bed because uncle Larry decided to sit on it at the Easter BBQ.

How many igloos could you buy for the price of one Yeti?

I ask because it's been about 20 years since I had to buy a new cooler so I really don't have a clue what they're going for nowadays.

I've never used my tumbler, but I think I read somewhere that the gaskets get dirty and most folks aren't aware that they need cleaning.

I've never seen so many people make such a fuss over a fricking ice chest.

because back in the day $30 would get you a pretty nice igloo. now you got 'boutique' hardware stores selling $500 coolers that are basically the same thing.

After reading this thread, I'm now going to take the Yeti decal off the back window on my truck and put the Oakley one back on.

My yeti has a Zwave switch on it that sends notifications to my alarm panel. Also has GPS and remote temp sensors that work with Nest. Picked up the bundle on clearance at Home Depot.

What sort of idiot doesn't realize that the glass they are drinking out of doesn't need cleaning? Especially the gaskets, that's where any liquid is going to get trapped... fricking morons.

I'm getting in on page 4. Have all Yeti jokes been played yet? You know the same ones that get played in every other yeti thread there's ever been?

I have never even unscrewed the top off the one given to me. Can the gasket cleaning be easily overlooked?

What you really need is a big Salt Life decal that will cover 3/4ths of your truck's back window, with a Yeti sticker on the bottom left corner, an Oakley on the bottom right corner. Then, put the 30A sticker in the upper left and a confederate flag on the upper right.
If you could find a way to have Calvin pissing on some other logo, you win the white trash award for the week.

Not even close.

Does a Yeti blow you and just shut up? That's what I expect when paying half of what a Yeti costs.

Not unless you neglect to clean the entire thing... which is pretty gross.

I didn't think to clean mine for about a month or so. Back then I was just drinking water out of it, so it wasn't the end of the world. I didn't realize that you needed to occasionally remove the gasket and wash the underside of it. Unless you know that it's removable, it's pretty easy to overlook

I have a yeti that only sees occasional use due to the weight issue.

Fill a gallon jug 2/3 full of water and freeze it. Put frozen jug in any ice chest the night before using it and it will keep ice quite a bit longer.

its as bad as people acting like its magic when a yeti cup still has hot coffee in it 8 hours later when my thermos has been doing that for 40+ years.

First off, I love my yeti cups, both the big boy and the low ball for cocktails on my porch in the summer.

However, I've been explaining your point to my wife for years. They didn't invent new technology. They put a sippy cup lid on a thermos.

But its still a solid thermos and the construction of the lid is solid and I like the drinking slot for water in the big one.

The low ball is more creative. I've never seen a low ball thermos for cocktails like this. I don't use the lid obviously, but it still keeps the ice from melting too fast in my gin on the rocks.

Also, I keep my low ball yeti in the freezer and when I pour a scotch in there, it chills it without watering it down better than my fake metal ice cubes.
