I really like a beach trip but I don’t spend all that much time on the beach

I prefer the pool, the deck or whatever you have, beachside bar, etc

Play in ocean, play in pools, build sand castles, cook, have fun, walk on beach at night, listen to waves.

It’s relaxing. I don’t want to do anything, and if I do I will, parasailing and stuff

Yeah, enjoying that hasn't magically gone away because I'm getting older and happily married

You sound like the whiny twat. One person says he doesn’t understand the beach and you proceed to have multiple rants. Very childish.

best thing about a beach is the nap you get to take afterward in the cold hotel room after roasting in the sun all day.

That must have been an interesting childhood. I've always heard about being raised by wolves and that seemed rough but at least they were living animals.

I like how someone doesn’t understand something you like, they’re automatically written off as not fun.
Isn't that kinda what you did, starting this thread?

Not everyone had the same life you had, and going to the beach isn't necessarily 'making it a lifestyle'.

It's an escape, something we don't have locally, and yet not too far away.

A vacation spent being lazy and indulging appeals to a lot of people.

I bet you get a lot accomplished on your vacations. Nothing wrong with that, if that’s how you unwind.

Imagine giving a shite about how other people choose to spend vacations.

I can just read through his bologna.

Most all of us can find pleasure anywhere. But the beach explains itself. You have to be a total dick not to find enjoyment at the beach.

I was not made for the beach. I burn, hate sand, not a fan of sand in my beer, and am not a fan of being sedentary and sweating balls trying to enjoy myself which I can do here and not deal with the sand in my beer.

My people are mountain people. I take much more enjoyment in hikes and being a little cooler in temp. Add in a lake or some creeks, waterfalls, and scenery and I’m IN.

Sitting on the beach just seems like the lowest common denominator vacation, outside Walt Disney World (another thing people in south Louisiana have a fascination with I’ll never understand).

I’ve left the southeastern United States before. I’m guessing you haven’t.

Is it a lot of work being this pretentious?

You do realize that beach trips aren’t a southeast-specific thing right? I guess all of the people visiting beaches in the Caribbean, SoCal, Hawaii, the Mediterranean, Brazil, etc. must be dumb rednecks too?

The only thing I’ve ever went to the beach for was to surf fish in Grand Isle and Holly Beach if you even call that a beach. More like sand pit surrounded by glassware.

So what you’re saying is.. you’ve never actually been to the beach.

My man.

The beach can be brutal. It just doesn’t take much planning and forward thought to make it a really great time.

What type of vacations do you like? Hell, what do you like doing around where you live? I’m sure if someone was woefully unprepared for your favorite local pastime they’d be as miserable as you at the beach.

This is me too. I'm not a ginger or anything but I'm somewhat fair skinned and have to take the sun in small doses at first every year to not get really burned.

We still go almost every year to appease my wife and I usually enjoy myself. I can have fun anywhere when I'm not at work.
