Aren’t business degrees basically worthless?
Definitely not and it depends on what you aspire to do.
I have a minor in business administration and if I really want to move up the corporate ladder in my profession, I need to get my MBA.

This isn't entirely true. He can go to law school still.
He can also take the required hours of accounting and sit for the CPA in Arkansas. Every state is diff, I think GA requires the least amount of actual accounting classes. You just need a bachelor's degree.

Don't be afraid to move for a new opportunity.
I have a humanities degree from a non-flagship public school. My diploma wasn't worth the postage the school paid to mail it to me. I worked in admin in Austin and hated it. Moved to Dallas, taught myself a new skill in a field I enjoyed (no extra college required!), and had a world of new opportunities opened up to me. Less than six months after the move I had a job I loved and I was making more money.

I don’t know anyone with a career (real career) that works 9 to 5, teachers included. Maybe you should live at home until you’re 50 and be a substitute teacher

I’m going to give you some advice that is free but I should charge you for it.
Remember this. Not just for today. But for life.
Sometimes you may have to do a little more than you planned rather than a little less than you should.
Lose the entitlement attitude. A great interviewer will pick up on that quickly and then you’ll be left wondering why you aren’t desirable to them. It’s because of your attitude. You have to sell yourself to them. If you think others are selling themselves the way that you are selling yourself in here, then stick with your approach. But if you want to standout, be different. Focus on two or three things that you can do better or learn to do better than anyone else and market those to potential employers.
But lose the, “I want to be off by ...” attitude, because quite frankly at your age, you haven’t done shite to justify your thought process.

Which would pretty much be another entire degree.

Unless it's changed in the last couple of years, you need 120 hours to sit, but 150 hours and more accounting classes to get licensed.

thanks, I was going to point that out, there's little concept referred to as delayed gratification, I've seen a lot of people turn down some pretty groovy positions because of initial pay and working conditions, they just refused to project down the road a bit

It’s a sign of immaturity.
The definition of maturity, or one of them, is learning to delay gratification.
I’m trying to help him with his approach. I would have loved if someone would have taught me this at his age.

People say “do what you love”. The only thing I love is hanging out with my family and making money.
My advice to you is unless you have some burning passion, find out what makes the most money that is doable and get after it. The money will buy you time to do whatever it is you really enjoy.

I think y'all are forgetting how dipshit high school coaches were. People in this thread acting like this guy can go be data scientist or a sales executive. Really?
I had a 'teacher'/coach tell our American history class that an abbreviated term for the Appalachian mountains is....the Alps. The fricking Alps. I got paddled that day, and he was a huge guy...but it made a great yearbook picture.

Digital Marketing is a cool field that you don’t need a specific degree for. There’s a lot useful things you can learn. Digital Strategy, learning how to do SEO and SEM for businesses. There’s so much on YouTube that you can learn from as well. I got “Kinesiology” type degree almost 3 years ago and haven’t had one sports job yet. Check out digital marketing firms in your area.

Go to book store and read all the success books. Business can be fun. Having a place to go and something to do is fun. Read like a starving bastard and something will strike your fancy.

Get your masters in underwater basket weaving. Trust me, you’ll earn more and get more joy out of it than coaching.
