If you have a college degree you can be the manager at a Waffle House with no experience. No kidding, all it takes is a college degree in any field. Anyone who has issues finding a job, there you go, thank me later

Sounds great. Should I meet you at McDonald's for lunch to learn more?

All this is great, Tony Robbins, but my job you can't have without certain education and certifications.

I don't listen to Tony Robbins. I provide common sense -- and most people, based upon their spending habits and personal behavior, are lacking in this area.

I did preface by saying in my line of work and type of field.

Getting a mater's degree in, for example, in Women’s Studies and going into dept upwards to $100K is stupid and irresponsible. Sitting on the other side of the desk from an interviewee, I often ask myself, "How did you not think through this degree you were getting yourself into?" And are you that desperate now that you're willing to forgo your specialized degree for a job that can only pay X number of dollars per year?

And this is just one example.

For the OP, he wanted to be a coach. Admirable. He likes kids. He wants to influence. That's why I asked if he liked sales. Because with sales, he doesn't have to get a master's degree. His success will be determine by the choices he makes. He will control his own future and look to build towards that future, as opposed to going into debt and then having student loans that all outlast his oldest pet.

Can we do CC's around 2:30?

I have a lead for lunch that I just know will be worth it. Grandma doesn't always get to see me.

While I am at it, how is your future looking? I work for 2 different companies and the other is helping families or people just like you prepare for your future. We are called Primerica and I'd love to get you on both. The possibilities are endless if you partner with me.

My wife, fresh out of college, was offered a position at Waffle House in Human Resources. It was attractive --- again, considering she was just getting out of college --- the pay was "decent" for her very first "professional" job and included great benefits.

The downfall as to why she didn't accept it? If and more like WHEN, they were short-staffed, she would be asked to work the floor to take orders. My wife can barely remember to get me a glass of milk when I ask her for one while sitting in our kitchen, so this would have been disastrous.

Outside of a few industry specific jobs it doesn’t matter what your degree is in

It just so happens those are the industries that pay the best. Engineering, finance, accounting, medicine.

True, but I think you are underestimating what a high level executive of a sales organization or a high level executive that is in charge of operations can make, all without a specialized degree.

yep, I've said that on here before, also, I'll repeat, an undergrad degree is an undergrad degree, as far as where it comes from, if that's where your stopping point is

Change degree paths. It’s never too late if you can pay for it.

I'm not underestimating their earning potential at all, but most of those people didn't start as salesman with a general studies degree either. Some, sure. But someone that comes in with high level technical business knowledge is still going to be ahead.

There's a reason over half of people wash out of sales. Because they don't make any money.
