Don't do this. Address them as "your honor"

I got scolded in court by a female judge for calling her "ma'am" 2 or 3 times after she told me to call her "your honor"

Most traffic courts are manned by assistant D.A.'s, usually very minor officials in the D.A.' s office. They are usually over loaded with cases & are usually ready to settle down any charges, minus any serious injuries. Try calling his office pre trial, have your case # when you talk to him. Mite be hard to reach him first call so leave a message, asking if it's possible to settle your case.

Pay attention to what happens with other cases in court. I learned that I could plead “no contest“ to my traffic violation which caused an accident and the judge would dismiss my ticket once my case is settled by the insurance

Kind of. You likely pleaded guilty (no contest is a guilty plea; it just can’t be used against you in a civil proceeding), sentencing was deferred under either 892.1 or 894, then was “dismissed” upon completion of conditions. Though I’ll concede that local traffic courts routinely do illegal shite, so who knows

Almost 40 years later I still laugh about my grandmother going to court to fight a speeding ticket after she learned to drive at 65 years old.

She knew the judge and started telling the court about all of his misdeeds as a boy. He dismissed the case just to shut her up. She would have had to stand or her toes to reach 5 feet tall.

Bring a letter from your insurance company confirming coverage and that the claim is being handled. Show it to the DA or City Attorney before you even get to the judge. That is how you get a good break. That is how it works in the New Orleans area.

The only thing to do here is to throw your truck nuts on the judges desk and tell him is there a problem here?

The judge should take a Quick Look and say “ case dismissed!”

I mean that’s how I remember my trip to court went

Tell them you identify as a Federal judge and have dismissed the case.

The best argument in this situation would be to bring a letter from insurance company on the court date evidencing proof that you were insured on the date of the accident, and explaining if the matter had been adjusted or is in the process of being adjusted.

Ask the DA to dismiss the ticket to be handled as a civil matter.

Most DA offices have a policy never to dismiss if a civil claim is still pending. However, they are usually willing to continue the matter to give it time to resolve, within reason.

Jefferson Parish if you present proof of insurance from your company, then the DA has discretion to dismiss and let the civil aspect play out. Sometimes they will just reduce to a non-moving.

Bruh we need way more details than this.

What caused you to veer into oncoming?

Phone?
Masturbation?
Both?

Like “kind of being pregnant “?
No contest is not a guilty plea. It is different from a guilty plea.
Guilty, no contest, not guilty. I don’t give a frick what you want to call it and it doesn’t really matter to me. The bottom line is I don’t pay for the traffic violation (it is dropped) and it can’t be used against me in the civil proceeding.
No contest worked very well for me thank you.
