So you morons are ok with requiring a license to drive but not own a deadly weapon.

This idiotic thinking has all been done a hundred times and is why you need a background check to buy steak knives in England.

You cannot legislate complete protection from violence without creating a totalitarian society because there is always the next deadliest thing.

How many criminals do you think would qualify. Absolutely none and they will still get a gun on the street corner. 99% of the time it is not law abiding citizens that are causing the problems

Most people that start with:

"I'm a gun owner..."

And then propose gun control laws fall into one of two categories.

1. Doesn't now and never has owned a gun. Thinks saying "I'm a gun owner..." is an acceptable lie because it "starts the conversation."

2. Owns a hand me down .22 single shot rifle from their great Paw Paw and somehow believes this gives them moral authority in this debate.

I could not care less if the prisons are overpopulated with black men.

fricking lock every single criminal up. I’m all about draconian gun laws.

I’d sacrifice 1000 George Floyd’s for one innocent child

Even if this was a good idea in theory, who is going to do the screening and how dotes this not just become a red tape rubber stamp tax not so cleverly disguised as a mental health initiative?

Even more importantly, what actually qualifies as "mentally ill?" We talking OCD, ADHD, depression? Or are we only talking psychotic disorders like schizophrenia?

I am pretty sure the NICS background check system already flags you if you've been involuntarily committed. I am fine with that law. But going beyond that is tricky.

I am also OK with "red flag" laws, which I know are hated on this board. But if a guy is threatening himself or others, I have no problem with the Cops intervening and taking his guns with a court order.
