IHMA HealthData Projections Plummet for Louisiana COVID-19 Cases and Deaths

The April 5, 2020 update believes that we have already hit our peak in resource use and deaths per day will peak tomorrow. At one point, it was projecting nearly 2,000 deaths in Louisiana, but now projects less than 800 by August 2020.
It shows overall USA death projection as being less than 85,000.
Obviously, we have no idea how accurate this will be, but it seems to be rapidly improving as more information becomes available and is added to the projections.
LINK
At the top, where it says "United States of American" click on the drop-down menu and select "Louisiana".
Hopefully, the numbers in the coming days will be somewhat close to these projections.

Would be awesome if their model is near the mark.

Great news
I think one of the takeaways from this will be the need for a much more consistent and reliable reporting system.
There is a lot of variability in the numbers due to different states reporting in different ways.

That sounds more like what i was expecting....under 1000. Since we had 1400 regular flu deaths in LA last year time to open this puppy back up and stop all this chicken little stuff.

You predicted less than 1500 deaths for the US total..........and then revised that to 50 just 3 days later.

That model looks a lot more what I expected. Granted their confidence interval looks fricking ridiculous

Or quite possibly wildly overestimated from the beginning.....

Updated projections factor in mitigation. Remove mitigation and those projections are no longer valid.

I have screenshots from yesterday I can post to compare tomorrow. I’ve been waiting for this release, knew it would be better.

Alabama too. It projected Alabama to have 9K deaths last Tuesday. Now at 900 or so which is much more believable

Great news either way.

As long as we can get that wall built around New York City we’ll be in good shape to open things back up.

That is a massive drop.

xxx has 5 deaths in 2 weeks and they shut down the whole city. We usually have more shootings than that. The hospitals are not half full. This is the biggest overreaction I’ve ever seen.

The national estimate went from 91K to 95K to 81K. Also the national peak days haven’t moved more than a day or two.
The two things no reasonable person can call this model are alarmist or highly variable.

Yeah, you’re a genious - let’s open the puppies - 1000 in around 2 weeks is chicken little.

When it first came out, it had our peak at 97 (with a wider range) deaths/day.
So glad that it's less than half that now. Hope it holds or goes down even more.
