Pronouns are feelings and emotions.

Or maybe they are just trying to avoid an expensive/time consuming lawsuit from some overly litigious type and this was the simplest, least expensive way to do that.

Maybe they already got hit with a lawsuit and this is their answer.

It's a stupid charade but maybe it's smarter to include pronouns in emails than waste hundreds of man hours in sensitivity seminars every time someone gets offended by a work email using the wrong lingo in a company of thousands

horseshite.

My previous job I worked for an AMLAW 100 law firm, and we didn't have this requirement. It was purely optional, and the only people that really did it were the lobbyists...err....attorneys in DC.

If anyone were going to require it for your hypothetical reasons, it's a giant corporate law firm.

A giant corporate law firm may have less worries about being sued than some company with a dumb/bad HR manager

I’m not saying I’d flat out quit, but I’d definitely make sure my resume is up to date and start paying attention to other opportunities.

We’ve all seen where this nonsense goes and it’s nowhere good. Organizations don’t do better when they introduce corporate wokeness…let alone start to try to enforce it.

Yep. They don't tell us about it in elementary school when we learn pronouns but they really are dangerous. One time I walked out of a gas station and saw a guy say "He's over there". Then another guy turned around and shot him in the face, just for calling him "He".

Ever since then I use people's first names instead of a pronoun.

Haven’t had to yet. But it is time to complete our yearly diversity questionnaire bc of clients. Sexual preference and nationality is more important than quality work these days.

Most people at my 20,000+ person company can't even use the signature format we're supposed to.

Management decided that pronouns would not appear on signatures.

so in all seriousness... I am a straight white male...wtf pronoun am I? and what does that even mean?

I feel I'm a pretty smart guy but half these pronouns don't make sense to me when used in a sentence, the grammar is all off.

In all seriousness, I hate the pronoun shite, but if you don't know that the pronouns for a male are "he" and "him" you are not in fact a pretty smart guy.

Death by a thousand cuts

Surely if they do that you are forcing unconscious bias training

And no doubt they feel they have too many white males

If everyone in the company has to do it, there are bigger things to rustle the jimmies.

I’ve noticed it’s more common on LinkedIn nowadays.

the only people that would actually do this are 1)utterly fricking stupid 2)rich already and don't need money 3)in a line of work that they are so in demand that going a few months without a job isn't really a big deal

Politics have broken a lot of people, so the OT tough guys will tell you they'd quit immediately I'm sure.

Mine "encourages" it, which in Progressive speak means it will be mandatory soon.

I don't do it. I'm not a stupid person.
